About the Role

We are looking for a 3–5 years experienced AI / GenAI Engineer to design and build an AI-powered conversational booking assistant for Panjourney.

The AI assistant will allow users to search hotels, understand hotel details, compare options, apply filters, collect guest information, initiate bookings, handle booking-related queries, and interact with existing hotel supplier and booking APIs through natural language.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience with JavaScript/Node.js APIs and practical knowledge of LLMs, tool/function calling, RAG, and conversational AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop an AI-powered conversational hotel booking assistant.
- Integrate LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, or equivalent models.
- Implement Function/Tool Calling to allow the AI assistant to interact with backend services.
- Convert natural-language user requests into structured parameters and validated API requests.
- Integrate AI with existing hotel search, hotel details, availability, booking, cancellation, coupon, payment, and support APIs.
- Design and maintain conversation state and contextual memory.
- Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) for FAQs, cancellation policies, refund policies, payment information, terms, and other company knowledge.
- Work with embeddings and vector search/vector databases.
- Build reliable backend validation and guardrails so that AI cannot bypass business rules.
- Handle API failures, invalid requests, price changes, booking failures, and other edge cases.
- Optimize AI responses for accuracy, latency, token usage, and cost.
- Implement logging, monitoring, evaluation, and analytics for AI interactions.
- Collaborate with frontend and backend developers to integrate the AI assistant into the Panjourney platform.
- Maintain clean, scalable,



and production-ready code.

Required SkillsAI / GenAI
- 3–5 years of software development experience.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or similar.

- REST API development and third-party API integrations.
- Experience with authentication, authorization, API validation, error handling, and logging.
- Experience working with MongoDB or another database.
- Understanding of asynchronous processing and scalable backend architecture.

Frontend
- Working knowledge of React.js / Next.js.
- Ability to integrate conversational AI/chat interfaces with frontend applications.
- Experience with streaming responses/WebSockets is a plus.

Database / RAG
- MongoDB experience preferred.
- Experience with vector databases or vector search.
- Knowledge of embedding pipelines, document chunking, retrieval, and ranking.
- Experience building or maintaining a knowledge base is a plus.

Good to Have
- Experience building AI agents or multi-agent systems.
- Experience with MCP or similar tool-integration protocols.
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with travel, hotel booking, OTA, fintech, e-commerce,



or other transaction-based platforms.
- Experience integrating payment gateways such as Razorpay/Stripe.
- Experience with AWS and production deployments.
- Experience with AI evaluation, observability, and cost optimization.

What You Will Build The candidate will work on a conversational booking workflow such as:

User → AI Assistant → Tool Calling → Panjourney Backend → Hotel Supplier APIs → Booking Engine → Payment → Confirmation

Example

"I need a hotel in Goa for 2 adults from 10th to 13th October under ₹5,000 per night."

The assistant should understand the request, collect missing information, call the appropriate hotel search tools, return real-time results, help the user select a room, and continue through the booking workflow.

Important Requirements

- The candidate should have hands-on development experience, not only theoretical knowledge of AI.
- Strong understanding of backend APIs and business logic is important.
- The candidate must understand that the LLM should not directly control databases, payments, or critical business operations.
- Experience building production-grade AI integrations is highly preferred.

Experience

3–5 years of total software development experience

Candidates with strong experience in Node.js/JavaScript + practical GenAI/LLM integration are preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field preferred.

Relevant practical experience and solid technical skills will also be considered.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience and technical expertise.
