Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Consultant Cardiologist to join our clinical team. The primary responsibilities will focus on non-invasive cardiac diagnostics—including accurate reporting of ECGs, Treadmill Stress Tests (TMT), and 2D Echocardiograms—along with providing expert clinical consultations for outpatient and assigned inpatient cases.
This role offers flexible, structured hours ideal for a practitioner looking to manage a dedicated session schedule in a well-equipped clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic & Non-Invasive Procedures
2D Echocardiography:
Perform and interpret Transthoracic 2D Echocardiograms (with Doppler study) to assess structural, valvular, and hemodynamics of the heart.
Treadmill Test (TMT): Supervise and report exercise stress tests, ensuring patient safety and accurate interpretation of ischemic changes, arrhythmias, and exercise capacity.
ECG Reporting: Interpret standard 12-lead ECGs promptly to identify arrhythmias, conduction defects, ischemic patterns, and cardiac structural changes.
Diagnostic Quality: Ensure high diagnostic precision and rapid turnaround time for reporting diagnostic investigations.
Clinical Consultations & Patient Care
Outpatient Consultations (OPD): Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with hypertension, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, dyslipidemias, and other cardiovascular conditions during designated clinic hours.
Cross-Specialty Consultations: Provide expert opinions and pre-operative cardiac evaluations for patients referred from other clinical departments (e.g., General Surgery, Internal Medicine).
Treatment Planning: Prescribe appropriate medical management, counsel patients on lifestyle modifications, and monitor long-term outcomes.
Referral Management:
Identify patients requiring invasive evaluation or urgent surgical intervention (e.g., Coronary Angiography, PCI, CABG) and coordinate timely referrals.
Quality, Compliance & Operations
Maintain comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) and diagnostic documentation in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Adhere to ethical medical practices, clinical governance guidelines, and patient safety protocols.
Collaborate effectively with diagnostic technicians, nursing staff, and medical administrative teams.
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
Education
MD / DNB in General Medicine followed by DM / DNB in Cardiology (or equivalent recognized post-graduate degree).
Alternative for Non-Invasive focus: MD in Internal Medicine with a recognized Fellowship / Post-Doctoral Diploma in Non-Invasive Cardiology.
Licensure: Active and unrestricted license/registration with the relevant State / National Medical Council.
Experience: Minimum [2–5] years of post-qualification experience in performing/reporting 2D Echo, TMT, ECGs, and managing independent cardiology consultations.
Clinical Skills: Advanced diagnostic acumen in Echo/TMT interpretation, sound decision-making in outpatient cardiac management, and excellent crisis response capabilities.
Soft Skills: Empathetic patient communication, collaborative approach with hospital personnel, and professional ethics.
Working Schedule & Terms
Schedule: Part-time schedule consisting of [e.g., 2–4 hours per day / 3–4 days per week / Evening OPD slots].
- Compensation: Pay-Per-Session / Fee-for-Service Model – commensurate with experience and volume.
