About us: Unicel Greens is a fast-growing cleantech company building a closed-loop system for critical materials in India. We recycle end-of-life lithium-ion batteries and recover lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, copper, aluminium and graphite. These materials go back into manufacturing, so that what comes out of a battery goes into the next one. This reduces India's dependence on imported minerals.
We run an integrated model that goes from collection to recovery. Through a collection network across multiple Indian cities, we source directly from OEMs, battery manufacturers, EV companies, dealers and aggregators. Every battery is then processed safely and responsibly at our own recycling facility. We also help OEMs and battery producers meet their end-of-life and compliance obligations under India's Battery Waste Management Rules.
The Opportunity A recycling business grows only as fast as its partnerships do. Every tonne of material that reaches a recycler starts with a conversation: a call to an OEM, a meeting with a dealer, a follow-up with an aggregator that turns into a long-term supply relationship. Finding the right partners, earning their trust and turning interest into business is where growth begins.
As a Business Development Intern, you'll work on the front line of this growth at Unicel Greens. You'll identify and reach out to OEMs, scrap dealers, metal traders, EV companies, dealers and aggregators. You'll pitch our recycling solutions, follow up on leads, and help convert conversations into partnerships. You'll learn how the battery recycling market works, who the key players are, and how deals are built in an industry where relationships matter as much as price.
What You'll Be Doing
- Sourcing. Find the people who have the material: manufacturers, dismantlers, dealers and traders. Get them on board, keep your supplier list sharp,
and turn one-time sellers into regular partners.
- Inspection & grading. Check every lot before it's ours. Look at the grade, quantity and condition, sort it into the right category, and work with the yard and quality teams so everyone is on the same page.
- Pricing & negotiation. Keep an eye on the market every day. Price each lot on what it actually costs us to land and what we'll recover from it, negotiate within the approved margins, and loop in leadership when a big deal is on the table.
- Purchase execution. Once a deal is done, make it happen. Get the PO and agreement ready, sort out logistics and weighment, and make sure the paperwork is in order before anything is dispatched.
- Quality & commercial control. Match what the supplier promised with what actually reached us. Handle rejections and deductions openly and fairly, and keep the process clean, with no inflated bills and no rate games.
- Compliance. Know who you're buying from. Keep every supplier's KYC, GST and PAN in place, confirm they're authorised to trade, and make sure environmental, waste and tax rules are followed. If material looks shady or can't be verified, we don't take it.
- Reporting. Share a quick daily update on purchases, rates and stock. Keep the pipeline live, and send a weekly note on what's moving in the market.
What You'll Bring
- You know your non-ferrous scrap. You can identify metals and grades, and you understand recovery, yield and processing losses.
- You're a solid negotiator, and suppliers enjoy working with you.
- You can work out landed cost and tell quickly whether a purchase makes money.
- You follow commodity prices and regional scrap markets, and you're comfortable with GST and e-way bill paperwork.
- You're good with Excel and ERP or procurement tools, you communicate clearly, and you verify things on the ground rather than just on paper.
- Your integrity isn't up for negotiation.
