We are looking for a Battery Application Lab Associate to support day-to-day activities in an R&D; laboratory focused on advanced materials and electrochemical applications.
The role involves hands-on work in material preparation, formulation, laboratory testing, characterization, data collection and documentation. The candidate will work closely with scientists and engineers while following strict laboratory, chemical and electrical safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Material Preparation & Formulation
- Assist in the preparation and processing of advanced materials, coatings and composite powders.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as high-shear mixers, ball mills and furnaces.
- Prepare and mix materials, binders and solvents according to defined formulations.
- Maintain accurate sample identification, labeling, storage and traceability.
Laboratory Testing & Characterization
- Perform routine physical and chemical characterization of powders and slurries.
- Conduct testing such as
- Viscosity
- Tap density
- Particle size distribution
- Moisture content
- Accurately record test results and experimental observations.
Data Collection & Documentation
- Record experimental parameters, test results and laboratory data accurately.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and tracking systems.
- Process and analyze basic experimental data using Microsoft Excel.
- Create basic charts and reports to support R&D; activities.
- Assist in preparing, updating and maintaining SOPs and laboratory documentation.
Laboratory Operations
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Support calibration of laboratory equipment such as:
- Analytical balances
- Battery testing equipment
- Gloveboxes
- Vacuum ovens
- Maintain laboratory inventory including materials, chemicals and safety equipment.
- Ensure proper sample and material storage.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all applicable chemical, electrical and laboratory safety procedures.
- Handle and store chemicals and hazardous materials safely.
- Follow proper procedures for hazardous material disposal.
- Maintain valuable laboratory practices and workplace discipline.
