About the Role We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer with robust expertise in Python and Django to join our engineering team. The role will focus on designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing scalable backend services and APIs.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Django, Django REST Framework, relational databases, API development, and cloud-based application environments. You will work closely with frontend engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to build reliable and scalable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Python and Django.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using Django REST Framework (DRF).
- Design efficient and scalable backend architectures capable of handling large volumes of data and traffic.
- Develop, integrate, and maintain APIs supporting frontend and third-party applications.
- Optimize database queries, schemas, and performance across relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and time-series data stores (InfluxDB), with a focus on high-volume audit logging.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices, including OAuth and JWT where applicable.
- Develop integrations with external systems and services.
- Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code.
- Develop and maintain automated unit and integration testing.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and other technical teams.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Work with containerization technologies such as Docker and, where applicable,



Kubernetes.
- Support applications deployed on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to continuous improvements in system reliability and performance.
- Stay current with relevant backend technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

- 3 years of professional experience in backend development using Python, 5 years in overall development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Django and Django REST Framework (DRF).
- Strong understanding of Python programming, object-oriented programming, and backend development principles.
- Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Good knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
- Understanding of database design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering best practices.
- Experience with automated testing and debugging.
- Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized application environments.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, or event-driven architectures.
- Experience working with microservices architecture.
- Exposure to distributed systems and high-volume applications.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of application security and secure coding practices.
- Experience with performance monitoring and application observability.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
