Note: Looking for a hands-on Automation/Mechatronics Engineer with strong experience in AMR/AGV, conveyor and material-handling automation, PLC-based troubleshooting, preventive/corrective maintenance and OEM management, preferably from a manufacturing/warehouse environment, with good stakeholder-management and communication skills. Candidate should be capable of independently owning warehouse automation after implementation, rather than being dependent on the OEM for routine troubleshooting and maintenance.
Role & responsibilities
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to AMRs, conveyor systems, and automation equipment
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize system downtime
- Coordinate with OEMs and service providers for complex technical issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for automation performance
- Maintain maintenance logs, downtime analysis, and technical documentation
- Prepare reports using Excel and PowerPoint and support dashboards using Power BI / Tableau
- Use Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint for coordination, communication, and documentation
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Electronics, CS or Mechanical Engineering
- 57 years of experience in automation / AMR / conveyor systems/Digitization
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
- Good communication, coordination, and multitasking abilities
Preferred candidate profile .
Preferred automation technologies/tools
- PLC/automation systems preferably Siemens / Allen-Bradley or equivalent
- HMI, VFD, sensors, safety systems and industrial networking
- AMR/AGV and conveyor control systems
- AMR route mapping, navigation configuration and route optimization
- AMR programming/configuration and task/mission creation
- Automation troubleshooting and diagnostic tools
- Exposure to WMS/ERP/PLC interface and basic data/IoT integration is preferred
2. Experience with automation equipment
- Hands-on experience with AMRs/AGVs, conveyors, automated material handling systems, lifts/elevators or similar warehouse automation
- Experience in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance
- AMR route creation, mapping, waypoint configuration and traffic management
- AMR mission/task programming and configuration
- Ability to interface with OEMs and automation solution providers
- AMR + material lift + conveyor integration experience would be a solid advantage
3. Troubleshooting & maintenance expectations
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting capability
- AMR navigation, localization, communication and route-related troubleshooting
- Preventive and corrective maintenance of automation equipment
- Ability to diagnose electrical, PLC, sensor, communication and mechanical interface issues
- Root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions
- Ownership of equipment uptime, MTTR/MTBF and critical spare management
- Ability to respond to operational breakdowns and minimize downtime
4. Industry/domain preference
- Preferred: Manufacturing / Warehouse Automation
- Experience in a high-volume, operationally critical material-flow environment is desirable
- Exposure to SAP/WMS/MES or similar systems would be an advantage
5. Communication & stakeholder management
- Should be able to work effectively with Warehouse, Engineering, IT, Production, Quality, Safety and OEM/vendor teams
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Should be capable of explaining technical issues and business impact to management
- Strong ownership and follow-through with internal stakeholders and external vendors
