Job Title: Assistant Professor – Journalism and Mass Communication

Job Summary - The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is seeking a agile, student-centric Assistant Professor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background in media studies alongside advanced, hands-on editing skills across print, digital, and broadcast formats. You will be responsible for teaching core journalism courses, mentoring students, and overseeing practical media production labs to prepare students for the modern industry.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Academic Delivery

- Deliver high-quality lectures on core subjects including Broadcast Journalism, Digital Media, Reporting, and Media Laws.
- Conduct practical lab sessions focusing on copyediting, sub-editing, and video/audio post-production.
- Develop and update course curricula to align with rapidly evolving digital media and AI trends in journalism.

Technical & Editing Mentorship

- Train students in industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, FCP, Avid, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Oversee the editing, layout, and production of the department’s student news portal, newsletters, and lab journals.
- Guide students in maintaining editorial integrity, fact-checking,



and checking for plagiarism.

Research & Administration

- Publish high-quality research papers in peer-reviewed, indexed journals.
- Participate in departmental administrative duties, admissions, and examination evaluations.
- Organize industry workshops, guest lectures, and media conclaves to enhance student exposure.

Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Experience

- Master’s Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a closely related field with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade).
- Cleared National/State level eligibility tests (e.g., NET/SET) or possess a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline (preferred).
- 1–3 years of teaching experience or significant corporate/media industry experience.

Technical Competencies

- Exceptional copyediting and proofreading skills with a strong command of grammar and style guides (AP, Reuters, etc.).
- Proficiency in digital video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite) and print layout software.
