Job Purpose
We are looking for an Certified Welfare Officer to manage employee relations, statutory compliance, contract labor, employee welfare, grievance handling, engagement initiatives, and capability development for a large blue-collar workforce.
The role will involve working closely with employees, union representatives, management, government authorities, and other internal and external stakeholders to maintain a positive and productive industrial relations environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Employee Relations and Labor welfare activities for permanent and contractual workmen.
- Act as a point of contact for employee grievances, counselling, conflict resolution, and expectation management.
- Manage and monitor statutory compliance, labor laws, and contract labor practices.
- Handle employee welfare activities including canteen, sanitation, drinking water, rest areas, and other welfare amenities.
- Support union management and negotiations, including Long-Term Settlements (LTS).
- Identify and assess risks associated with IR decisions and employee relations matters.
- Develop and execute employee engagement and welfare initiatives.
- Coordinate training and skill-development programs for blue-collar/workmen employees.
- Drive initiatives related to productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale (PQCDSM).
- Build leadership capabilities among union members and informal leaders.
- Liaise with government bodies,
union agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, first-time-right, and employee care.
- Coach and develop team members and strengthen team capabilities.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 4-8 years of relevant experience in Employee Relations and Employee Welfare.
- Qualification: Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management / Master's in Social Work / Master of Labor Studies.
- Must be a Certified Welfare Officer as per the Factories Act.
- Experience in Automotive, Engineering or Manufacturing industries, with exposure to Union Management and Contract Labor Management.
- Strong experience in Grievance Handling & Redressal, Employee Counselling and Expectation Management.
- Strong knowledge of Labor Law & Statutory Compliance and experience in Government Liaisoning.
- Experience handling a workforce of 1,000+ permanent employees along with contractual workforce.
- Strong Stakeholder Management, People Management and Change Management capabilities.
- Experience in Employee Engagement and Training & Capability Development initiatives for blue-collar/workmen employees.
- Regional Language Proficiency is mandatory.
- Robust exposure to union interactions, people development and Industrial Relations activities.
