Morgan's Tek is the technology arm of Morgan's, a retail and technology group building the next generation of AI-powered retail. We design and run our own platform end to end: e-commerce, mobile apps, in-store kiosks, operations and delivery. The platform already runs live stores, and our next chapter is making it intelligent.

About the Role

We're hiring our first dedicated Applied AI Engineer. You'll own AI across our retail platform, from the data that powers every product to the assistants that help customers shop. This is a hands-on, build-from-zero role with real users, real data and direct impact.

Your First 6 Months

You'll start by building the product data foundation, then move on to our customer-facing AI assistant. We'll focus on doing a few things properly before expanding.

What You'll Do

- Build AI pipelines that turn raw product data and images into clean, verified product information
- Develop conversational AI (chat and voice) that helps customers find and buy products
- Design evaluation sets and metrics to measure and improve accuracy before anything ships
- Make AI systems fast, reliable and cost-effective in production
- Work closely with backend and frontend engineers to integrate AI into our apps, website and kiosks
- Over time, contribute to personalisation and customer insights

What We're Looking For

- 4+ years of software engineering experience, with strong Python and production backend skills
- Shipped LLM applications to real users, using RAG, tool/function calling and structured outputs
- Experience building evaluations:



test sets and metrics that prove quality
- A strong grasp of cost and latency trade-offs in AI systems
- Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, message queues and vector search
- A clear communicator who owns outcomes and prefers simple solutions first

Strongly Preferred

- Hands-on computer vision: image embeddings, similarity search and OCR

Nice to Have

- Voice AI experience (speech-to-text, text-to-speech, low-latency agents)
- Fine-tuning models on your own labelled data
- Retail, e-commerce or product catalogue experience
- Recommendation systems or behavioural analytics
- Arabic, Malay or other Southeast Asian language skills
