Job purpose:

ePS is building AI into its packaging software products and into how the company runs, including engineering, support, finance, sales and legal. The AI Lead is a senior hands-on engineer who will lead a small team of AI/ML engineers and serve as the technical point of contact for executives sponsoring AI initiatives. The role will translate business requests into scoped, working solutions, provide clear status updates to executives, and personally build the most complex technical components.

Core responsibilities:

Hands-on engineering (about 60%)

- Design, build and ship AI solutions end to end, including classical ML and statistical models, LLM and agent workflows, RAG, and integrations with ePS products and business systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Jira, Confluence and product databases.
- Build and maintain agentic tooling, including AI coding agents such as Claude Code, MCP servers, automated defect-triage and code-analysis agents, and evaluation harnesses.
- Perform advanced data analysis, including exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model selection and evaluation. Select classical ML or GenAI approaches based on the business and technical need.
- Deploy solutions to production using version control, CI/CD, containers and cloud platforms, with AWS preferred. Implement monitoring, cost tracking and rollback capabilities.
- Apply ePSs AI Policy and AI-DLC framework and guardrails to every project, including appropriate data handling, human review before publication, and legal and security review.

Team leadership and mentoring (about 20%)

- Mentor junior and associate AI engineers through code reviews, pairing, design reviews and structured learning plans.
- Set engineering standards for prompt and evaluation practices, testing, documentation and reproducibility.
- Plan and assign team work, remove blockers and raise risks early.





Executive engagement and delivery (about 20%)

- Work with corporate executives and department heads across Finance, Customer Success, Sales/Marketing, Legal, HR and Product to gather requirements for AI projects.
- Translate business requests into written scope, success criteria and effort estimates.
- Maintain the corporate AI project portfolio with priorities, owners, blockers and dates, and report status regularly to executives in clear, non-technical language.
- Explain technical results to non-technical stakeholders, including model capabilities and limitations, confidence levels, cost and risk.

Required experience and skills:

- 8+ years of experience in software engineering or data science, including 4+ years building and deploying ML/AI systems to production.
- Hands-on practical modeling experience in classical ML/statistics, including regression, classification, forecasting and anomaly detection. Candidates should be able to demonstrate real models with measured outcomes, not only GenAI prototypes.
- Advanced Python and data science skills using pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn and TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Production experience with LLMs, including prompt design, RAG, tool use and agents, evaluation, and cost and latency management.
- Daily use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or similar, with sound judgment on when to trust AI-generated output and how to verify it.
- Robust SQL skills with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and at least one cloud platform; AWS preferred.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading requirements and status discussions directly with senior business stakeholders.
- Nice to have: ERP, MIS, supply-chain, manufacturing or packaging/print domain experience.
