We are looking for a smart, analytical and responsible Accountant who can manage day-to-day accounting activities while also supporting management with accurate financial reporting and business forecasting.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accountant / Finance Executive with strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and business analysis.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with financial data, preparing Profit & Loss statements, revenue and expense reports, cash-flow information and financial forecasts, and providing management with clear insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date company accounts and financial records.
- Manage income, expenses, invoices, payments and receipts.
- Reconcile bank accounts and financial transactions.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.
- Support payroll and other routine finance-related activities.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly and periodic Profit & Loss (P&L;) statements.
- Prepare revenue, expense and cash-flow reports.
- Track actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare management reports highlighting key financial movements.
- Identify unusual expenses, variances and financial discrepancies.
- Provide accurate financial information to management when required.
Financial Forecasting & Planning
- Forecast future company revenues and expenses.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual budgets.
- Develop financial projections based on historical performance and business plans.
- Monitor expected cash inflows and outflows.
- Analyse profitability and operating costs.
- Provide financial insights to support business planning and growth.
Compliance & Finance Administration
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with applicable UK accounting requirements.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors and other financial professionals when required.
- Assist with VAT, tax and other statutory financial requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.
Requirements
- 2+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Experience preparing P&L;, balance sheets, cash-flow reports and management reports.
- Good understanding of budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Solid Excel / Google Sheets skills.
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar is an advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- UK accounting experience or knowledge of UK finance practices is highly desirable.
