Company:
Did you know KONE moves two billion people every day? As a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, we employ over 60,000 driven professionals in more than 60 countries worldwide joined together by a shared purpose, to shape the future of cities.
Why this role?
• Develop, validate, and maintain multi‑domain simulation models and tools for elevator systems within R&D;, enabling virtual prototyping, performance optimization, and support for product, hardware, and software/service development
What will you be doing?
• Develop and maintain system‑level and component‑level simulation models for elevator systems (mechanical, electrical, control, and passenger traffic) using industry‑standard tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, Amesim or equivalent).
• Work with Product R&D; to simulate new elevator concepts,
group control strategies, building traffic scenarios, and ride comfort to support architecture decisions before prototyping.
• Collaborate with Hardware R&D; to model critical components (machines, doors, brakes, ropes, guide rails, frames, structures) and perform studies on dynamics, vibration, noise, fatigue, and thermal behavior.
• Partner with Software/Service R&D; to build and maintain simulation and digital twin environments that reflect real elevator installations for remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and service decision support.
• Create parameterized and reusable simulation models that allow effective exploration of design variants, operating conditions, building types, and load profiles across product families.
• Plan and execute simulation studies to answer specific engineering questions related to safety margins, energy usage, ride comfort, stress/strain, thermal effects, and system response to faults
