Backend Engineer – Python + AWS

About the Role
We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Python and cloud-native application development to join our Product Engineering team.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building APIs and backend services using Python, FastAPI and/or Flask, along with strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and AWS.
You will work on highly scalable and distributed systems, solve complex engineering problems, optimize existing services, and contribute to building reliable cloud-native products. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy taking ownership, working independently, and building systems that operate reliably at scale.

What You'll Do
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
• Build high-quality APIs and backend applications using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.
• Design robust API contracts, validation, error handling, and service integrations.
• Develop productive database solutions using PostgreSQL.
• Design and optimize database schemas, SQL queries, indexes,



and data-access patterns.
• Analyze and improve application and database performance.
• Develop services capable of operating reliably within distributed and scalable system architectures.
• Work with asynchronous processing, event-driven workflows, background jobs, and distributed workloads.
• Design and develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and API Gateway.
• Apply best practices around scalability, availability, reliability, security, observability, and cost optimization.
• Use Terraform / Infrastructure as Code to manage cloud infrastructure.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Participate in system design and architectural discussions.
