Job Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspection QC Engineer to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities for structural fabrication, piping fabrication, welding, NDE, pressure testing, painting/coating, and mechanical completion activities associated with modular skid fabrication projects. The engineer will ensure all work complies with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, codes, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities Structural & Welding Inspection
• Perform fit-up, welding, dimensional, and final inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 requirements.
• Verify welder qualifications, WPS availability, welding consumables, preheat/interpass temperatures, and weld traceability.
• Review VT, PT, MT, UT, and other NDE reports and ensure compliance with project quality requirements.
Piping Fabrication Inspection
• Inspect piping fabrication and installation activities as per ASME B31.3/B31.4 and approved isometrics.
• Verify material traceability, fit-up, flange alignment, welding activities, supports, NDE results, and final configuration.
NDE Coordination & Testing
• Coordinate and review NDE activities including VT, PT/DPT, MT, RT, and UT.
• Witness hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak, and pressure testing activities.
• Verify repair procedures, re-inspections, and closure of NCRs.
Coating & Painting Inspection
• Inspect blasting, surface preparation, environmental conditions, coating application, DFT measurements, and final coating acceptance.
• Ensure compliance with AMPP/NACE/SSPC requirements.
Mechanical Completion & Documentation
• Review Mechanical Completion (MC) and System Completion (SC) dossiers.
• Verify inspection records, welding documents, test reports, calibration records, NCRs, punch lists, and as-built documentation before QC clearance.
