Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified and scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands. E³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The recent software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. As of 2026, E³ 2.0 is due to be scaled by the Volkswagen brand with Trinity in the volume segment.

CARIAD COE (Centre of Excellence) is setup in Bangalore, India working exclusively with CARIAD and associated VW groups with the focus on development of ‘VW.OS”. The areas of work involve development of platform components such as firmware, boot loaders, AUTOSAR, Linux/QNX BSP, Service oriented architecture-based middleware components.

Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated Function Owner to lead and govern Technical topic and Requirements for the VTT Project. The Function Owner (FO) is responsible for the end-to-end ownership, governance, and successful delivery of assigned vehicle functions , services, and features. Acting as the central technical authority, the Function Owner ensures that customer, business, regulatory, and technical requirements are translated into robust, scalable, and high-quality solutions requirement that will be used for development.
The role requires close collaboration with development teams, architects, suppliers, component owners, and business stakeholders to drive feature strategy,
requirements management, integration, release readiness, and continuous product improvement. The Function Owner is accountable for meeting quality, cost, timing, and maturity targets while proactively managing risks, changes, and technical dependencies throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Requirements Engineering
- Define, analyze, maintain, and refine functional and system requirements.
- Derive technical requirements from customer, brand, business, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure high-quality requirements with clear acceptance criteria and consistency across affected systems.
- Maintain end-to-end traceability from customer needs through implementation, testing, and release.
- Review and validate requirements with stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
Functional Ownership & Product Strategy
- Own the end-to-end technical responsibility for assigned functions, services, and vehicle features.
- Define, govern, coordinate, and approve functional scope and feature implementation.
- Develop and maintain product strategies, roadmaps, service visions, and feature evolution plans.
- Ensure alignment between business objectives, customer expectations, and technical feasibility.
- Drive achievement of quality, cost, timing, and product maturity targets.
Stakeholder & Interface Management
- Serve as the primary technical interface for all stakeholders related to the assigned function.
- Coordinate activities across development teams, system architects, product owners, suppliers, and business representatives.
- Manage cross-functional dependencies and ensure alignment across programs and releases.
- Facilitate technical discussions, decision-making, and issue resolution among stakeholders.
Architecture & Concept Development
- Contribute to functional concepts, system architecture, and solution design activities.
- Support system decomposition and allocation of requirements to subsystems and components.
- Evaluate technical implementation options and recommend optimal solutions.
- Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure compliance with system and platform standards.
Integration & Release Management
- Plan and coordinate function integration across hardware, software, backend, and cloud environments.
- Support validation, verification, and release readiness activities.
- Provide release recommendations for functions, requirements, and supplier implementation specifications.
- Participate in function sign-off activities and release governance reviews.
- Monitor implementation progress and ensure smooth deployment across releases.
Change, Defect & Risk Management
- Analyze defects, incidents, and technical issues and drive corrective actions.
- Evaluate, prioritize, communicate,
and formulate change requests.
- Identify technical risks, perform impact assessments, and define mitigation strategies.
- Monitor function maturity, quality metrics, and development progress.
- Escalate critical issues and lead resolution activities across stakeholder groups.
Reporting & Documentation
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical and project documentation.
- Prepare stakeholder reports covering status, risks, dependencies, milestones, and key decisions.
- Ensure transparency of project progress and function maturity across governance forums.
- Maintain documentation required for audits, compliance, and release approvals.
