We are a Singapore-headquartered international commodity trading and investment company — operating across base metals, critical minerals, and scrap and recycled products, with supply chains across Africa, India, Southeast Asia, China, and Australia.
This role is central to building a robust risk and compliance framework as we transition into our growth phase.

THE ROLE
A hands-on, high-trust role covering credit and business risk, counterparty KYC and onboarding, trade compliance, and governance reporting — across a global commodity trading operation.
The right candidate will build systems from scratch while managing day-to-day risk matters in parallel, serving as the primary risk and compliance partner to the CEO, CFO and management team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Credit & Business Risk
- Conduct credit assessments of customers, suppliers, and counterparties — financial statement analysis, country and sector risk, and qualitative business model review.
- Set and maintain internal credit limits in line with company policy; recommend payment terms and incoterms from a risk perspective, including credit tenor and security instrument requirements (LCs, BGs,
collateral).
- Monitor physical and hedge positions for limit utilisation, mark-to-market exposure, and concentration risk; flag breaches to the CEO and CFO promptly.
- Evaluate new business proposals and material contracts — quantifying risk-to-reward, highlighting key sensitivities, and recommending pre-deal risk controls.
- Assess business risks in new markets, products, and trading strategies — including price, volume, liquidity, and operational risk — and embed controls into workflows with the trading and operations teams.
2. Counterparty Onboarding & KYC
- Own end-to-end counterparty onboarding — customers, suppliers, agents, and logistics partners — in India and internationally.
- Conduct KYC and compliance checks: sanctions screening (OFAC, EU, UN, etc), PEP and adverse media review, beneficial ownership verification, and country and jurisdictional risk assessment.
- Review agent and intermediary arrangements for anti bribery and corruption compliance (FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and applicable local laws).
- Review contractual compliance language in trading contracts — sanctions clauses, governing law, representations and warranties, and force majeure provisions.
- Maintain counterparty compliance files, periodic re screening schedules, and manage KYC refresh on a risk-rated basis.
