A Composite Airframe Structural Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, validation, and lifecycle

support of aircraft structures made from composite materials (CFRP, GFRP, hybrid laminates). The role

ensures structural integrity, weight optimization, durability, and certification compliance of primary and

secondary airframe components.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design primary (wing, fuselage, empennage) and secondary composite structures

2. Create CAD models, definitions, and structural layouts

3. Develop laminate stacking sequences and material configurations

4. Optimize structures for weight, stiffness, strength, and manufacturability

5. Select composite materials (CFRP, GFRP, sandwich structures)

6. Define manufacturing processes (layup, autoclave, RTM, filament winding)

7. Support tooling, jigs, and production integration

8. Work closely with manufacturing to resolve defects and process deviations

9. Define and support structural test plans (static, fatigue, environmental)

10.



Ensure compliance with aerospace standards MIL-STDs

11. Generate certification documentation and reports

12. Support airworthiness and qualification processes

Required Skills & Competencies:

1. Structural mechanics (stress, strain, load paths)

2. Composite laminate theory & failure criteria

3. CAD tools: SolidWorks/ NX

4. PLM tools: ENOVIA / Teamcenter, ERP

5. Composite behavior (anisotropy, delamination, fiber orientation)

6. Structural optimization and weight reduction techniques

7. GD&T; and manufacturing tolerances

8. High speed UAV/aircraft structural integration

Experience: Experience more than 5 years in Structural design in high-speed aircraft/ UAVs

Education Requirements: Bachelor/ Master s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
