Altos is seeking a meticulous and experienced Medical Editor to review, edit, and format QME reports to join our growing company. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all Med-Legal reports are error-free, conform to California workers' compensation regulations, and maintain the required standard of accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
Role & responsibilities
Report Review & Editing: Review transcribed documents against paperwork/audio dictation to ensure accuracy.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure reports adhere to AMA Guides (5th Edition), California Labor Codes 4663 & 4664, and other legal/medical guidelines.
Technical Accuracy: Verify medical terminology, spelling, and consistency of data throughout the reports.
Formatting: Format reports according to specific regulatory templates.
Communication: To address queries and seek missing information or clarifications from the Evaluator.
Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain the quality of medical records, ensuring they are free from errors and inconsistencies.
Deadline Management:
Handle urgent (STAT) requests and manage workload to meet strict deadlines.
Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of experience in medical-legal editing, specifically with Workers Compensation and Med-Legal reporting.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and workers' compensation procedures.
Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with electronic medical record systems and Google Docs.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify subtle errors.
Communication Skills: Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred candidate profile
Experience with QME/AME/IME reports specifically in California.
Familiarity with AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
Experience as a Quality Assurance (QA)/Editor.
Must be able to work independently.
