About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to take end-to-end ownership of our financial accounting, balance sheet integrity, and statutory tax compliance (GST & TDS).

In this role, you will establish operational discipline across the accounts function. You will serve as the primary "Checker" for routine entries made by junior team members, enforce standard accounting principles, and ensure 100% accuracy in statutory computations, returns, and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

1. General Ledger & Balance Sheet Integrity

- Review & Ledger Scrutiny: Conduct rigorous weekly and monthly ledger scrutiny across Debtors,Creditors, Fixed Assets, Bank, and Suspense accounts to ensure zero misclassifications.
- Month-End & Year-End Closing: Manage monthly cut-offs, prepaid amortization, depreciation schedules, provisions, and accruals strictly in line with applicable accounting standards.
- Reconciliations: Oversee and review:
- Monthly Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS).
- Vendor/Customer ledger reconciliations and dispute resolutions.

- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly trial balances, profit & loss statements, and balance sheet schedules for management and external auditors.

2. GST Compliance & Reconciliation

- Return Filing: Prepare and file monthly/quarterly returns accurately within statutory due dates (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual GSTR-9/9C).
- ITC Verification: Perform end-to-end monthly reconciliation between purchase registers and GSTR-2B, proactively tracking ineligible ITC, blocked credits under Section 17(5), and vendor non-compliance.




- Transaction Review:Validate tax invoices, HSN/SAC codes, applicable GST rates, reverse charge mechanism (RCM) applicability, and e-invoicing/e-way bill compliance.
- Audit Readiness: Maintain clean audit trails, tax payment challans, and documentation for GST department notices or scrutiny assessments.

3. TDS & Direct Tax Operations

- Deduction & Deposit: Verify correct section-wise TDS applicability (e.g., 194C, 194J, 194I, 194Q, 195) and applicable threshold limits before authorizing vendor disbursements.
- Quarterly Returns: Compute and file quarterly TDS returns (Form 24Q, Form 26Q) and oversee issuance of Form 16/16A.
- Tax Reconciliation: Periodically reconcile TDS ledgers with TRACES and Form 26AS/AIS to resolve mismatches and ensure clean records.
- Challan Processing: Ensure timely deposit of monthly TDS payments (Challan 281) on or before the 7th of every month.

4. Team Quality Control & Workflow (Maker-Checker)

- Review and approve day-to-day accounting vouchers, purchase entries, and expense claims submitted by junior team members.
- Standardize standard operating procedures (SOPs), documentation checklists, and filing structures across the accounting department.




- Identify recurring accounting errors and coach junior team members to elevate reporting quality.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Education: B.Com / M.Com / Inter-CA (CA Intermediate passed) or equivalent professional degree.
- Experience: 5-8 years of hands-on accounting and taxation experience, preferably with a blend of CA firm training and corporate/SME exposure.

Technical Proficiency:

- Advanced working knowledge of Tally Prime
- Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, conditional formatting, and large dataset handling).
- Direct hands-on experience navigating the GST Portal, Income Tax e-Filing Portal, and TRACES.

Statutory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with GST laws, Input Tax Credit rules, TDS rate structures, and standard accounting principles.

- Deadline-Driven: Strong discipline in planning around monthly statutory cut-off dates (7th, 11th, 13th, 20th).
- Process Ownership: Ability to design, implement, and enforce structured internal review mechanisms.
- Explicit Communication: Ability to communicate tax withholding logic and compliance requirements to internal stakeholders and external vendors.
