We are looking for a responsible and technically sound Fire Safety Engineer to manage fire prevention, protection, and emergency preparedness across our real estate projects, construction sites, residential complexes, and commercial properties.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting fire-risk assessments, inspecting fire-protection systems, coordinating with project teams, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and maintaining a safe environment for employees, contractors, residents, and visitors. Fire safety engineers commonly work with construction and house-building companies and review building designs, fire-resistant materials, and emergency arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular fire-safety inspections at construction sites, residential projects, offices, and properties.
- Identify fire hazards and recommend suitable corrective and preventive actions.
- Inspect and maintain fire-fighting systems.
- Fire hydrant systems.
- Sprinkler systems.
- Fire alarm and detection systems.
- Fire extinguishers.
- Fire pumps and jockey pumps.
- Emergency lighting and exit signage.
- Ensure clear and unobstructed emergency exits, staircases, fire doors, assembly points, and evacuation routes.
- Prepare and update fire emergency plans, evacuation procedures, and site-specific fire-safety checklists.
- Conduct fire drills, mock evacuation exercises, toolbox talks, and employee safety training.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, architects, MEP teams, facility-management teams, and government authorities.
- Review fire-safety provisions in building layouts, project drawings, and MEP drawings.
- Monitor hot-work activities such as welding, gas cutting, grinding, and other activities that may create fire hazards.
- Verify fire-safety arrangements before granting work permits and occupancy or handover approvals.
- Maintain records of inspections, fire drills, equipment testing, training, incidents, permits, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate the servicing, refilling,
testing, and certification of fire-fighting equipment.
- Investigate fire incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and submit corrective-action reports.
- Assist in obtaining and maintaining fire-related approvals, NOCs, inspection reports, and compliance documents from the relevant authorities.
- Ensure that fire-safety practices are followed by employees, security personnel, contractors, vendors, and residents.
- Report serious safety violations immediately to senior management.
- Keep updated with applicable fire-safety requirements, building regulations, and National Building Code provisions. Fire-safety consultancy and design work in India may involve reference to NBC 2005 and related fire-risk assessment practices.
Mandatory Qualification
- Diploma in Fire Safety / Fire Engineering / Fire and Safety from a recognized institute of Nagpur or from any institute approved by NCFSE.
- Candidates must submit valid educational certificates and supporting documents during the recruitment process.
- Additional certification in industrial safety, construction safety, emergency management, or first aid will be an advantage.
- Candidates with a diploma or degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Safety Engineering may also be considered if they possess the mandatory fire-safety qualification.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in fire safety, construction safety, real estate, facility management, infrastructure, or building projects.
- Candidates with experience in high-rise residential, commercial, mall, hotel, hospital, or large construction projects will be preferred.
- Fresh diploma holders with strong practical knowledge may be considered for a junior position.
Required Skills
- Positive knowledge of fire-fighting and fire-detection systems.
- Understanding of fire-risk assessment and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Ability to read basic architectural, civil, electrical, and MEP drawings.
- Knowledge of fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, fire pumps, fire alarms, and emergency equipment.
- Strong inspection, reporting, documentation, and coordination skills.
- Good communication and training abilities.
- Ability to work at construction sites and respond to emergencies.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel for preparing reports and maintaining records.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify unsafe conditions.
- Willingness to travel between project sites.
Key Performance Indicators
- Completion of scheduled fire-safety inspections.
- Closure of identified fire-safety observations within the agreed timeline.
- Regular completion of fire drills and safety training.
- Proper maintenance and availability of fire-fighting equipment.
- Zero major fire-safety violations.
- Timely submission of inspection and compliance reports.
- Improvement in emergency preparedness across project sites.
Working Conditions
- The position will involve regular visits to construction sites, project offices, residential complexes, and other company properties.
- The employee may need to work outdoors, climb stairs, inspect service areas, and respond to emergency situations.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required during fire drills, inspections, emergencies, or critical project activities.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
