VMC Programmer 3D CAD/CAM & CNC Programming Job Description Responsibilities/: Develop, prove out, and optimize 3/-axis, 4/-axis, and 5/-axis VMC programs using CAM software /(e.g., Mastercam, Delcam/PowerMill, Unigraphics NX, Edgecam, or SolidCAM/). Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, inserts, feed rates, spindle speeds, and depth/-of/-cut parameters based on material properties /(e.g., steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, engineering plastics/). Design, select, and inspect workholding fixtures, pneumatic clamps, vices, and custom tooling to ensure rigid setup and optimal cycle times. Interpret complex 2D engineering drawings, GD&T; symbols, 3D CAD models, and technical specifications to determine optimal machining sequences. Conduct shop/-floor first/-part prove/-outs, dry runs, and single/-block executions to prevent tool collisions, machine damage, or component scrap. Perform cycle time reduction, tool path optimization,



and continuous improvement initiatives on existing production programs.
