General Description Of Role
As a Data Scientist,
you will be working in the International Natural Catastrophe Research Team which consists of 30 people based in India, UK, Singapore, Japan, and Australia. Most of the team have a technical background in Natural Catastrophe Modelling and peril specialisms (Meteorologists, Hydrologists, Geologists and Structural Engineers) with proficiencies in data science and programming. The team’s goal is to analyse the associated risk of natural perils, evaluate vendor Catastrophe models (RMS/Verisk) and build out independent views of risk.
Job Responsibilities
• Identify and extract data from multiple sources into a common format.
• Perform data validation, data exploration and feature engineering.
• Apply geospatial analysis to obtain meaningful insight from geospatial data.
• Research, recommend and implement statistical models appropriate for the given data.
