Position Overview
We are building a custom ERP system powered by PostgreSQL and seek an experienced PostgreSQL specialist to design, optimize, and maintain the database backbone. You will collaborate with our IT and development teams to ensure scalable, high-performance data handling tailored to business operations in finance, pharmaceuticals, and inventory management, including transferring from our existing Oracle database. This role demands hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL for enterprise-grade applications, with a focus on smooth Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the database migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL, including schema conversion,data transfer using tools like ora2pg,ETL processes, and validation of data integrity post-migration.
- Manage database users, security roles, and access controls following the principle of least privilege.
- Design and implement database schemas, including normalization, indexing,constraints, and relationships optimized for ERP workflows like order processing and reporting.
- Develop advanced SQL queries using CTEs, window functions, joins, and stored procedures (PL/pgSQL) to replicate and enhance Oracle-based business logic.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and monitoring to handle high-volume transactions and ensure low-latency access.




- Integrate PostgreSQL with ERP application layers, supporting APIs and handling legacy Oracle compatibility issues.
- Implement security best practices, including row-level security, backups,replication, and high-availability setups.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL experience in enterprise environments, ideally with ERP or custom business applications, plus proven Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration projects.
- Advanced SQL proficiency: execution plans, indexing strategies, partitioning, and optimization for large datasets, with familiarity in Oracle PL/SQL equivalents.
- Strong knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, migration tools (e.g., ora2pg, AWS SCT), and monitoring tools like pg Admin, EXPLAIN ANALYZE, and pg Badger.
- Experience with cloud deployments (e.g., AWS RDS PostgreSQL) and integration with languages like Python, Java, or Node.js.

Preferred Skills

- Familiarity with ERP-specific data models (e.g., finance modules, inventory tracking) and handling Oracle-specific features like sequences or packages in PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of replication, clustering, and disaster recovery for production stability.
