Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced CICS Security Specialist with strong expertise in CICS Transaction Server, RACF, ACF2, and mainframe security. The candidate will lead CICS security integration activities as part of an ACF2 to RACF migration, ensuring security controls are successfully converted, validated, tested, and operationalized without impacting critical business transactions.

The role requires hands-on experience with CICS security, RACF classes and profiles, transactions, programs, files, terminals, certificates, TLS, started tasks, service IDs, and production troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the CICS security conversion from ACF2 rules to RACF profiles, groups, permits, and CICS-specific security controls.
- Define and implement RACF security controls for:
- CICS regions
- Transactions
- Programs
- Files
- Terminals
- Commands
- Temporary Storage
- Transient Data
- Intercommunication

- Validate CICS region IDs, started task IDs, service IDs, application IDs, surrogate access, and batch integration authorities.
- Coordinate digital certificates, keyrings, TLS, and secure CICS connectivity with RACF and infrastructure teams.
- Review and assess migration impacts across CICS SIT, CSD, RDO, PLT, security exits, inter-region communication, and connection flows.
- Lead CICS regression and connectivity testing, including:

- Transaction authorization testing
- Resource access validation
- Negative authorization testing
- Cutover validation

- Troubleshoot CICS authorization and security issues using RACF messages, CICS traces, SMF records, region logs,



and application diagnostics.
- Coordinate with application owners and obtain security/application sign-off for each migration wave.
- Prepare CICS security evidence, operational documentation, and BAU support procedures for post-migration operations.
- Provide production cutover and post-migration support for critical CICS workloads.

Required Skills

CICS Security

- Strong expertise in CICS Transaction Server (CICS TS) security.
- Knowledge of transactions, programs, files, terminals, commands, regions, RDO, CSD, SIT, PLT, and intercommunication.

RACF / ACF2

- Hands-on experience with RACF and/or ACF2 in CICS environments.
- Robust knowledge of:
- CICS RACF classes
- RACF profiles and permits
- Generic naming
- Logging
- Started task security
- Region access
- Surrogate access

Certificates & TLS

- Experience with DIGTCERT, digital certificates, RACF keyrings, TLS, and secure CICS connectivity.

Testing & Troubleshooting

- CICS transaction testing
- Resource access validation
- Negative authorization testing
- Regression testing
- Cutover validation
- CICS traces
- SMF records
- Region logs
- Incident triage
- Application diagnostics

Experience & Qualifications

- 12+ years of experience in CICS, transaction services, mainframe middleware, or mainframe security.
- Strong hands-on experience with CICS TS security in RACF and/or ACF2 environments.
- Experience supporting critical production CICS transaction workloads, preferably in regulated environments.
- Experience with TLS, digital certificates, service IDs, CICS regression testing, and production cutover support.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work with infrastructure, RACF, application, and business teams.
