Role Summary
The Store Incharge is responsible for the day-to-day running of the store ensuring smooth operations, driving sales, maintaining stock and merchandising standards, managing store staff, and delivering a consistent customer experience in line with company policy.
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations
- Open and close the store as per SOP, ensuring cash, security, and safety protocols are followed
- Ensure the store is clean, well-stocked, and merchandised as per plan-o-gram
- Monitor daily sales targets and take corrective action to close gaps
- Handle billing accuracy, cash reconciliation, and daily sales reporting to the Area Manager
Inventory & Stock Management
- Conduct stock indenting and ensure timely replenishment to avoid out-of-stocks
- Monitor stock ageing, minimize shrinkage/pilferage, and conduct periodic stock audits
- Coordinate with the supply chain/warehouse team for deliveries and returns
- Ensure proper storage, FIFO practice, and handling of perishables
Staff Management
- Supervise, roster, and manage attendance of store staff (cashiers, helpers, security)
- Train current joiners on billing systems, customer service, and store SOPs
- Address staff grievances and escalate HR matters as needed
- Conduct daily briefings on targets,
promotions, and priorities
Customer Experience
- Ensure high standards of customer service and resolve complaints at store level
- Drive footfall-to-billing conversion through in-store engagement
- Implement promotional campaigns, private-label pushes, and local marketing initiatives
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to statutory, safety, and hygiene requirements
- Maintain records for audits (stock, cash, attendance, licenses)
- Submit daily/weekly reports to Area Manager on sales, stock, and staffing
Key Requirements
- Graduate (any discipline); retail/FMCG experience preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in retail store operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Strong numerical ability for stock, cash, and sales reconciliation
- Basic computer literacy (billing software, Excel/reporting)
- Good communication skills in local language; Telugu/English preferred for Rayalaseema region
- Willingness to work store hours including weekends/festivals
