Role & responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Infrastructure, Cloud, DevOps, Platform, and SRE engineers.
- Own the design, implementation, and operation of scalable, secure, highly available infrastructure platforms.
- Define and execute the infrastructure and platform engineering roadmap aligned with business and technology objectives.
- Architect and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent technologies.
- Establish and improve CI/CD and GitOps practices for reliable and automated software delivery.
- Design, operate, and optimize Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Establish strong monitoring, observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management practices.
- Define and track SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, availability, latency, and reliability metrics.
- Lead major production incidents, root-cause analysis, and preventive remediation.
- Ensure infrastructure meets organizational requirements for security, compliance, access control, and data protection.
- Drive cloud cost optimization, capacity planning, resource utilization, and FinOps initiatives.
- Develop and maintain business continuity, disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability strategies.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployments, and operational processes.
- Partner with Software Engineering, Security, Data, Architecture, and Product teams on platform and infrastructure requirements.
- Evaluate infrastructure technologies and make recommendations on architecture, tooling, and technology standards.
- Establish engineering standards, conduct architecture/code reviews, and improve operational documentation.
- Mentor engineers, support career development, and build a culture of automation, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
- Manage infrastructure projects, budgets, vendors, timelines,
and cross-functional dependencies.
Preferred candidate profile
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, or related fields, including technical/team leadership experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in AWS, Azure, or GCP, with solid understanding of cloud architecture and services.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong understanding of Linux, networking, DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, storage, compute, IAM, and cloud security.
- Experience designing and operating highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant production systems.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, GitOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, CloudWatch, or comparable monitoring and observability platforms.
- Strong understanding of SRE principles, SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, incident management, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for automation.
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, service mesh, API gateways, databases, caching, and messaging systems is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of cloud security, vulnerability management, secrets management, IAM, compliance, and infrastructure governance.
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong system-design, problem-solving, project-management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree is a plus.
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect are advantageous.
