3) L3 Isilon & ECS Engineer

Role Overview

- Deliver L3 engineering for Dell Isilon (PowerScale) NAS and ECS object platforms
- Manage cluster design, scaling, performance tuning, and multiprotocol access
- Troubleshoot complex NAS/object issues across large multidatacenter environments
- Oversee ECS replication, object durability, namespace governance, and security
- Execute upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
- Support DR planning, failover validation, and storage continuity
- Provide SME support for global operations and escalations
- Meet L3 engineering depth and assessment criteria

Required Skills & Experience

- Solid expertise with Isilon/PowerScale clusters, SmartPools, and access zones
- Deep understanding of OneFS internals, protection levels, and file layout
- Experience with ECS namespaces, replication groups, buckets, and S3 policies
- Proficiency with Unisphere, InsightIQ, and APIbased monitoring
- Strong NAS/object troubleshooting and performance tuning capabilities
- Experience performing complex L3 changes, upgrades, and migrations
- Understanding of data durability, metadata behavior, and load distribution




- Strong documentation and engineering process compliance
- Effective crossdomain troubleshooting and collaboration

Key Responsibilities

- Manage Isilon clusters, node pools, and access zone configurations
- Configure SMB/NFS multiprotocol access and SmartConnect policies
- Tune performance, analyze metrics, and resolve latency issues
- Add nodes, handle firmware updates, and maintain cluster health
- Engineer ECS storage pools, namespaces, buckets, and replication groups
- Configure S3 access, encryption, retention, and key management
- Troubleshoot replication lag, object failures, and consistency issues
- Conduct L3 upgrades, patches, and engineering changes
- Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and design documentation
- Support DR design, testing, and failover validation
- Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and operational readiness
- Perform capacity forecasting and performance improvements
- Coordinate with application, network, and virtualization teams
- Lead RCA investigations and implement preventive controls
- Provide SME guidance to global support and project teams
