Role Description The Staff Accountant role at Sterling Exports is a full-time, on-site position based in Mumbai. The person in this role will manage day-to-day accounting activities, including journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing financial statements, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and supporting audits and compliance-related activities.



The Staff Accountant will also monitor cash flows, support budgeting and forecasting, and help implement improvements to accounting systems and processes. This role works closely with finance, operations, and management to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in core accounting practices, including general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Knowledge of taxation, regulatory compliance, and audit support, preferably within an export or international trade workplace
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, as well as strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
• Solid analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional
