We are looking for an experienced and responsible Floor Supervisor to manage day-to-day workshop floor operations at our authorised heavy commercial vehicle service centre.
The candidate will be responsible for allocating jobs to technicians, monitoring repair progress, ensuring proper utilisation of manpower and workshop resources, maintaining repair quality, and ensuring vehicles are completed and delivered within the committed timeline.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Supervise daily workshop floor operations and ensure smooth workflow.
- Allocate repair jobs to mechanics and technicians according to their skills and workload.
- Brief technicians clearly about vehicle complaints and required repair work.
- Monitor job progress and ensure vehicles move through the repair process without unnecessary delays.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors, Technical Advisors, Parts Department and Workshop Manager.
- Ensure required spare parts, tools and equipment are available before starting major repair jobs.
- Monitor technician productivity and utilisation.
- Ensure technicians follow proper repair procedures and OEM guidelines.
- Inspect work-in-progress and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Assist technicians in troubleshooting difficult mechanical and technical problems.
- Escalate major technical issues to the Technical Advisor/Workshop Manager.
- Monitor repeat repairs and identify the reasons for rework.
- Conduct quality checks before vehicles are sent for final inspection/delivery.
- Ensure timely completion of promised jobs.
- Maintain proper discipline and housekeeping on the workshop floor.
- Ensure technicians use required PPE, tools and safety equipment.
- Monitor proper handling of customer vehicles and prevent unnecessary damage.
- Ensure tools, equipment and workshop facilities are used properly.
- Monitor pending vehicles and prepare/update daily job-progress reports.
- Support the Workshop Manager in achieving workshop productivity and efficiency targets.
- Ensure proper closure of job cards and completion of repair documentation.
- Coordinate road tests and final vehicle inspection wherever required.
- Train and guide mechanics/helpers on proper work practices.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, safety procedures and OEM standards.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of heavy commercial vehicle workshop operations.
- Positive knowledge of diesel engines and major vehicle systems.

- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple vehicles simultaneously.

Qualification & Experience Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Experience: 2–4 years of relevant experience in commercial vehicle/heavy vehicle workshop operations, including supervisory experience.
Experience with Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Eicher, BharatBenz or other Heavy Commercial Vehicle workshops will be preferred.
