SAT Academic Lead – Math / Reading & Writing
Location: Bengaluru
Employment: Full time
Work model: Hybrid
Subject tracks: SAT Math, SAT Reading & Writing, or both
About the Role
CollegePass is hiring a full-time SAT Academic Lead to teach students, develop the SAT curriculum and maintain teaching quality across our tutor team.
Applicants may specialise in either SAT Math or SAT Reading & Writing. Candidates claiming proficiency in both sections will be assessed independently in both.
We need an educator who has personally prepared students for the current digital SAT and can demonstrate measurable score improvements. This is an academic position with no sales, business-development or enrolment-conversion responsibilities.
Key Result Areas
Student Instruction and Outcomes
- Teach one-to-one and small-group SAT classes.
- Diagnose students’ section- and skill-level weaknesses.
- Create individual preparation plans based on baseline score, target score and test date.
- Teach subject knowledge, question-solving strategy, pacing and test management.
- Review mock-test performance and prescribe corrective work.
- Maintain clear records of attendance, assignments, accuracy and score progression.
- Communicate student progress and concerns professionally to parents.
- Deliver measurable improvements in student performance.
Curriculum and Assessment Development
- Build and maintain a structured curriculum for the selected SAT section.
- Create lesson plans, practice sets, homework, revision material and mock tests.
- Organise content by domain, question type, difficulty and skill.
- Prepare accurate answer explanations that teach reasoning rather than shortcuts alone.
- Ensure material reflects the current SAT structure and standards.
- Use official resources appropriately and prevent unauthorised copying of copyrighted material.
- Analyse student-error patterns and improve the curriculum accordingly.
Tutor Training and Academic Quality
- Assess prospective tutors through diagnostics and teaching demonstrations.
- Train tutors on curriculum, teaching methods, student planning and reporting.
- Observe classes and provide specific, actionable feedback.
- Review lesson notes, student plans, assignments and mock-test analysis.
- Conduct regular tutor-calibration and subject-training sessions.
- Support tutors with difficult student cases.
- Address teaching-quality or performance concerns promptly.
- Maintain consistent academic standards across all SAT tutors.
Subject-Specific Expectations
Math applicants should demonstrate:
- Command of Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry.
- Effective use and teaching of Desmos.
- Ability to teach both conceptual solutions and efficient test strategies.
Reading & Writing applicants should demonstrate:
- Command of Information and Ideas, Craft and Structure, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions.
- Strong grammar, comprehension, evidence-based reasoning and rhetorical-analysis skills.
- Ability to explain why every answer option is correct or incorrect.
Candidate Requirements
- Recent experience personally teaching the current digital SAT.
- Documented student outcomes and score improvements.
- Strong subject knowledge in the selected track.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Ability to explain difficult ideas clearly to teenagers.
- Experience creating structured lessons, assessments or academic resources.
- Strong analytical and student-diagnostic ability.
- Professional communication with students, parents and tutors.
- Ability to combine personal teaching with curriculum and team responsibilities.
- High standards of accuracy, integrity and accountability.
Experience supervising tutors is valuable, but candidates with exceptional teaching results and clear leadership potential may also apply. A high personal SAT score alone will not establish suitability. Teaching quality, student improvement and academic leadership will be assessed separately.
