Role Overview The Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant working environment across the ice cream manufacturing plant. The role will involve implementing EHS policies, conducting safety inspections and risk assessments, ensuring statutory compliance, driving safety awareness, and minimizing workplace incidents and hazards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Safety & EHS

- Implement and monitor safety policies, procedures and standards across the manufacturing facility.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of production, utilities, warehouse, engineering and other plant areas.
- Identify unsafe acts and conditions and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and safe working practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.

2. Risk Assessment & Safety Audits

- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments and Hazard Identification for plant activities.
- Conduct periodic safety audits and inspections and track closure of observations.
- Identify potential risks related to machinery, electrical systems, refrigeration systems, chemicals, material handling and other plant operations.
- Support implementation of corrective and preventive measures.

3. Fire & Emergency Safety

- Ensure readiness of fire protection and emergency response systems.
- Conduct periodic fire drills, emergency evacuation drills and mock drills.
- Inspect fire extinguishers, hydrants, fire alarms and other fire-fighting equipment.
- Ensure emergency exits, evacuation routes and assembly points are clearly identified and accessible.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities with plant teams.

4. Manufacturing & Engineering Safety





- Ensure protected operating practices around production machinery, conveyors, packaging equipment and utilities.
- Monitor safety practices during maintenance, electrical and engineering activities.
- Ensure compliance with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
- Monitor Work Permit Systems including hot work, work at height, confined space and other hazardous activities.
- Ensure machine guarding and other engineering safety controls are maintained.

5. Chemical & Refrigeration Safety

- Ensure safe handling, storage and usage of chemicals used in the plant.
- Maintain appropriate MSDS/SDS documentation and ensure employee awareness.
- Monitor safety practices related to refrigeration systems and associated hazardous substances.
- Ensure proper PPE and emergency procedures are followed for chemical/refrigeration-related activities.

6. Incident Management & Reporting

- Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain records of incidents, near misses, safety observations and corrective actions.
- Prepare periodic EHS reports and safety dashboards for management.

7. Training & Awareness

- Conduct regular safety induction and awareness training for employees, contract workers and visitors.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for plant teams.




- Develop and display safety communication materials across the facility.
- Drive safety campaigns and initiatives to improve employee awareness.

8. Statutory & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act / State Factory Rules, Fire Safety, Electrical Safety and other applicable EHS requirements.
- Maintain required statutory records, registers, licenses and certificates related to safety.
- Coordinate with external agencies, auditors and statutory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Support internal and external EHS audits and ensure timely closure of observations.

9. Contractor & Workforce Safety

- Monitor safety compliance of contractors and third-party manpower.
- Ensure contractor workers receive appropriate safety induction and PPE.
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures during construction, maintenance and other high-risk activities.
- Maintain contractor safety records and performance reports.

Preferred Industry Exposure Candidates with experience in Food & Beverage, FMCG, Ice Cream, Dairy, Cold Chain or other Food Manufacturing environments will be preferred.

Exposure to refrigeration systems, ammonia/refrigerant safety, utilities, boiler/compressor operations, cold rooms and manufacturing machinery will be an added advantage.

Experience

4-5 years of relevant experience in Industrial Safety / EHS, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Qualification

- Diploma / Degree in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety / Occupational Health & Safety
- Relevant statutory safety certification as applicable.
- Additional EHS certifications such as NEBOSH / IOSH will be an advantage.
