Product Manager – Collections & Fintech
Location: Bangalore
Experience: 5–10 years
Function: Product Management
Company: Collekto / Pernimius Financial Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
About Collekto
Collekto is a fintech SaaS platform focused on retail debt collections, helping lenders improve collections outcomes through technology, data, analytics, automation and AI.
We are building the next generation of AI-led collections infrastructure, bringing together borrower intelligence, allocation, communication, field collections, analytics, strategy orchestration and last-mile conversion into a unified platform.
The Role
We are looking for a Product Manager with a rare combination of hands-on product management capability and deep collections domain experience.
This is not a conventional Product Manager role where domain knowledge can be learned after joining. The ideal candidate should understand how collections actually work on the ground including DPD-based strategies, allocation, agency management, field collections,
calling, digital collections, PTP management, settlements, recoveries and collection KPIs—
and be able to translate that understanding into scalable technology products.
You will work closely with clients, collections teams, engineering, design, data/AI and leadership to define and build products that materially improve collection efficiency and recovery outcomes.
What you will own
- Own one or more products/modules within Collekto's collections platform from discovery to adoption and continuous improvement.
- Translate real-world collections problems into clear product requirements, workflows and technology solutions.
- Engage directly with collection heads, operations teams, lenders, agencies and other stakeholders to understand their challenges.
- Define product vision, roadmap, priorities and release plans for your area.
- Convert business requirements into PRDs, user journeys, functional specifications, acceptance criteria and product backlogs.
- Work closely with Engineering, UX/UI, Data and AI teams through the complete product development lifecycle.
- Use collections data and operational metrics to identify opportunities for product improvement.
- Drive product adoption with clients and internal operations teams.
- Participate in client discussions, product demos, solution workshops and implementation discussions.
- Balance customer requirements, product scalability, engineering effort and commercial priorities.
- Identify opportunities to use AI,
automation and predictive intelligence to improve collections effectiveness.
Domain Responsibilities The candidate should be comfortable working across areas such as:
- DPD and delinquency-based collection strategies
- Early bucket and late bucket collections
- Allocation and reallocation of accounts
- Agency and field-agent management
- Calling and tele-collections
- Digital collections – SMS, WhatsApp, email, IVR and other channels
- Promise-to-Pay (PTP) management
- PTP fulfilment and broken PTP strategies
- Field visit planning and execution
- Collection productivity and efficiency
- Borrower segmentation and propensity
- Settlement and resolution workflows
- Roll-forward / roll-back analysis
- Collection MIS, dashboards and operational analytics
- Incentives and performance management
- Last-mile conversion and recovery strategies The expectation is not merely to understand these concepts, but to challenge existing processes and identify how technology can fundamentally improve them.
Product Management Responsibilities
1. Product Discovery
• Understand the problem before jumping to a solution.
- Conduct user and stakeholder interviews.
- Map existing collection processes and identify inefficiencies.
- Quantify the business impact of identified problems.
- Define clear problem statements and hypotheses.
1. Product Definition
• Develop product vision and roadmap.
- Create PRDs and detailed functional specifications.
- Define user journeys, workflows and business rules.
- Prioritise features using business impact, customer value and engineering effort.
- Define measurable success criteria for every major initiative.
1. Product Development
• Work closely with engineering and design teams during execution.
- Clarify requirements and resolve functional ambiguities.
- Manage product backlog and sprint priorities.
- Ensure quality and usability of releases.
- Drive UAT and production readiness.
1. Product Adoption & Outcomes
• Work with clients and internal teams to drive adoption.
- Track usage, engagement and business outcomes.
- Analyse collection performance before and after product interventions.
- Continuously improve the product based on data and feedback.
What We Are Looking For
Must Have
- 5+ years of experience in product management, product ownership or product-led business roles.
- Significant experience in retail debt collections / lending / BFSI, preferably in collections operations.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end collections lifecycle.
- Experience working with collection platforms, LOS/LMS, collection agencies or fintech products.
- Ability to independently write PRDs and translate business problems into technology requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working closely with Engineering and Technology teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to operate comfortably with both business/operations teams and technology teams.
Strongly Preferred
Experience with one or more of:
- Digital collections
- Collection strategy engines
- Account allocation engines
- Field-force applications
- Telecalling/dialers
- WhatsApp or conversational collections
- Collection analytics
- AI/ML-led borrower segmentation or propensity models
- Settlement platforms
- Agency management
- Incentive engines
- Workflow/orchestration platforms
You should be:
- Domain deep – You understand collections beyond terminology.
- Product minded – You think in problems, users, outcomes and scalable solutions.
- Data driven – You use numbers to validate decisions.
- Technically comfortable – You can work effectively with engineers, APIs, data and system workflows.
- Customer obsessed – You spend time understanding how products are actually used.
- Execution oriented – You take ownership from idea through production.
- Commercially aware – You understand the business impact of product decisions.
- Curious about AI – You see AI as a way to fundamentally rethink collections, not simply as a feature.
Why This Role Is Different
At Collekto, the opportunity is to build the technology layer for the future of debt collections.
You will not simply manage a backlog or coordinate releases. You will have the chance to take deep collections knowledge and turn it into repeatable, scalable and intelligent products used by lenders and collection organisations at scale.
If you have spent years understanding why collections teams succeed or fail and now want to use technology, data and AI to fundamentally change how collections are executed, this role is for you.
