About Preproute
Preproute is an edtech startup incubated at University of Delhi’s startup ecosystem. We’re building a platform that helps students navigate CUET preparation and undergraduate admissions through practice, insights and guidance.
We’re looking for a thoughtful Product Designer who can take ownership of the design experience and work closely with our founders and developers to build a product students find intuitive, useful and reliable.
About the Role
Your immediate focus will be improving our existing product: reviewing user journeys, refining screens and interactions, bringing consistency to our Figma files and helping ensure the developed experience matches the intended design.
As you become familiar with the product, you’ll also design upcoming features from scratch. This role spans both the 0-to-1 journey of creating new experiences and the 1-to-10 journey of refining them. We’re looking for someone comfortable moving between the two as product priorities evolve.
What You’ll Do
- Review existing screens and user flows to identify usability gaps, inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Refine interfaces with attention to typography, spacing, colours, visual hierarchy, accessibility and responsive behaviour.
- Design transparent interactions and thoughtful UX copy, including labels, instructions, error messages, and empty states.
- Organise and maintain Figma files, reusable components and design patterns.
- Translate product requirements into user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes.
- Work with developers on handoff,
clarify design behaviour and review implementation.
- Incorporate feedback from students, founders and the development team.
- Prioritise improvements within practical timelines and technical constraints.
- Communicate progress, flag blockers early and take responsibility for agreed deliverables.
What We’re Looking For
- A portfolio demonstrating strong UI/UX judgment, with clear explanations of your role and design decisions.
- Experience refining an existing digital product, alongside the ability to design new features.
- Strong proficiency in Figma, including Auto Layout, components, variants, and prototyping.
- An understanding of interaction design, information architecture, responsive design and usability.
- Attention to the small details that make an experience clear and consistent.
- The ability to explain your reasoning, receive feedback constructively and iterate.
- Experience collaborating with developers and preparing implementation-ready designs.
- Reliable communication, realistic planning, and the ability to work independently.
Added Advantages
- Experience with edtech, assessment platforms or other student-facing products.
- An understanding of how students learn, practise, interpret results and make decisions.
- Experience with usability testing, design systems or reviewing shipped product experiences.
Working Arrangement
We’ll begin with a defined freelance scope, agreed timelines, and project-based compensation. Based on the collaboration and ongoing requirements, we’re open to discussing a monthly retainer or another mutually suitable arrangement.
Hybrid collaboration in Delhi is preferred. Remote arrangements are welcome for someone who can maintain dependable communication, participate in agreed reviews and take ownership of delivery.
Selection Process
Portfolio review → portfolio walkthrough and interview → short, paid trial project → engagement discussion.
