About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on technician to build, test, maintain, and troubleshoot high voltage systems and industrial electronic equipment in our R&D; and test facility. You will work closely with engineers and scientists to assemble prototypes, run experiments safely, and keep lab equipment in working condition. This role suits someone who is comfortable with high voltage systems and safety equipment.
Key Responsibilities
High voltage systems (Desired)
- Assemble, wire, and commission HV power systems, capacitor banks, pulse-forming circuits, spark gaps, and associated switching and triggering hardware.
- Fabricate HV interconnects, terminations, and insulation (cable prep, potting, creepage/clearance-aware layouts).
- Ability to wind transformer coils.
- Perform insulation resistance (megger), hipot testing and maintain test records.
- Follow and enforce HV safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), grounding and earthing, safe discharge of stored energy, interlocks, and barricading.
Industrial electronics (Preferred)
- Assemble, repair, and rework PCBs, including through-hole and SMD soldering.
- Troubleshoot power electronics such as SMPS, inverters, VFDs, drivers, rectifiers, and control circuits down to component level.
- Build and wire control panels, including contactors, relays, MCBs/MCCBs, sensors, basic PLC/microcontroller-based controls, HMI, and experience with DAQ.
- Use oscilloscopes, HV probes, current probes, multimeters, LCR meters, and function generators for measurement and diagnostics.
- Motor winding: rewinding of single-phase and three-phase induction motors, fault diagnosis (shorted turns, insulation failure, open windings), and winding data recording.
Experience with transformer, inductor, or pulse transformer winding is a robust plus.
- Basic PLC programming or microcontroller (Arduino/ESP32) familiarity.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) or Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), or ITI in Electrician / Electronics Mechanic with strong relevant experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on work with high voltage equipment, power electronics, or industrial electrical systems.
- Solid understanding of electrical safety practices for HV and stored energy systems.
- Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams independently.
- Good soldering and wiring workmanship.
- Comfortable with standard test and measurement instruments.
Personal Attributes
- Safety-first mindset with a disciplined approach to procedures.
- Methodical troubleshooter who documents what was done.
- Willing to learn new equipment and work in an R&D; environment where tasks change.
- Able to work independently and as part of a small technical team.
