Head of Interiors, Hospitality Projects

Position: Head Interiors / Head of Interior Design

Function: Design & Projects

Industry: Hospitality / Hotels / Resorts / F&B;

Location: Corporate office , Bangalore

Reporting to: VP Projects and Technical Services

Experience: 1218+ years

Qualification: Degree in Interior Design / Architecture / related discipline

Hotel Interior design experience is mandatory

Role Purpose

Lead the end-to-end interior design strategy, development and delivery for the organisation's hospitality portfolio, ensuring that projects achieve the desired brand identity, guest experience, design quality, functionality, cost and delivery timelines.

The role will provide design leadership across hotel rooms, suites, lobbies, restaurants, bars, lounges, banquet areas, spas, recreational areas, back-of-house spaces and other hospitality environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Strategy & Creative Leadership

- Establish and drive the interior design vision and standards across hospitality projects.
- Translate the hospitality brand positioning into compelling interior concepts.
- Lead concept development from brief through design development and execution.
- Review and approve design proposals, material palettes, mock-ups and samples.
- Ensure consistency of design language across multiple properties.
- Introduce new materials, technologies, sustainability practices and hospitality design trends.

1. Project Design Management

- Own the interior design process from concept schematic design design development tender execution handover.
- Review drawings, specifications, BOQs, material schedules and FF&E; packages.

Ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.
- Identify design risks and resolve issues affecting cost, programme or quality.
- Coordinate closely with architecture, MEP, kitchen consultants, lighting designers, landscape and other specialist consultants.

1. Hospitality & Guest Experience

- Ensure interiors support operational requirements as well as guest experience.
- Develop appropriate design solutions for guest rooms, public areas, F&B;, wellness and recreation spaces.
- Balance aesthetics with functionality, durability, maintainability and lifecycle considerations.
- Ensure accessibility,



safety and relevant statutory requirements are incorporated into designs.

1. Consultant & Stakeholder Management

- Appoint, brief and manage interior design consultants and specialist agencies.
- Lead design reviews with senior management, hotel operators, project teams and consultants.
- Manage coordination between design, construction, procurement and operations.
- Represent the organisation in meetings with architects, consultants, vendors and project stakeholders.

1. Project Delivery & Site Execution

- Conduct design reviews and periodic site inspections.
- Monitor quality of finishes, workmanship, detailing and installation.

Resolve site-related design issues quickly.
- Review mock-up rooms / prototype rooms and approve finishes before mass execution.
- Ensure the completed project reflects the approved design intent.

1. Budget & Cost Management

- Develop and monitor interior design budgets.
- Work with procurement and project teams on value engineering without compromising critical design objectives.
- Review material costs, FF&E; budgets, quotations and variations.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation and cost optimisation across multiple properties.

1. FF&E;, Materials & Vendor Management

- Establish material and FF&E; standards for the hospitality portfolio.
- Develop and maintain approved material/vendor libraries.
- Evaluate vendors, manufacturers and specialist contractors.
- Coordinate procurement requirements with design and project schedules.
- Ensure materials meet required standards for aesthetics, durability, maintenance and hospitality use.

1. Team Leadership

- Build, lead and mentor the internal interior design team.
- Allocate resources across multiple projects.
- Establish design review processes, standards and documentation systems.
- Conduct performance reviews and develop team capability.
- Create a cooperative culture between design, projects,



procurement and operations.

1. Design Governance & Quality Assurance

- Establish design standards, checklists and approval processes.
- Conduct stage-gate design reviews.
- Ensure documentation is complete and coordinated before construction.
- Monitor design quality across the entire project portfolio.
- Maintain appropriate records of design decisions, approvals and revisions.

Preferred candidate profile

Candidate Profile

- 12 - 18+ years of experience in interior design, architecture or design management, preferably with significant hospitality exposure.
- Experience delivering hotels, resorts, luxury hospitality, restaurants/F&B; or mixed-use hospitality projects.
- Strong portfolio of executed hospitality projects covering rooms, public areas and F&B.;
- Proven experience managing multiple projects and design consultants.
- Strong understanding of materials, finishes, FF&E;, BOQ and construction detailing.
- Strong knowledge of hospitality design standards and guest experience.
- Excellent client, consultant, vendor and senior-management communication skills.
- Ability to balance design ambition, commercial considerations, operational requirements and project timelines.
- Experience leading and mentoring design teams.

Software / Technical Skills
- AutoCAD
- Revit / BIM preferred
- SketchUp / 3D modelling
- Adobe Creative Suite
- MS Office / Excel / PowerPoint
- Knowledge of design documentation, BOQ and specification preparation
