Field Research Interns - Industrial Heat Pump Assessment

Project: Heat Pump Adoption Potential Assessment in Uttar Pradesh
Location: Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur and Varanasi
Position: Field Research Intern - 2 Positions
Duration: 3 Months
Joining: Immediate
Mode: Full-time, Field-based
Stipend: 15,000 per month
Travel: Field travel and other eligible expenses will be reimbursed separately.
About the Project iFOREST is undertaking a study to assess the potential for industrial heat pump adoption among MSMEs in Uttar Pradesh . The study will focus on identifying opportunities for heat electrification, energy efficiency and the integration of heat pumps in industrial processes.
We are looking for two technically qualified and motivated interns to support field surveys, data collection and preliminary technical and techno-economic assessments.
Key Responsibilities The selected interns will be responsible for:
- Identifying and contacting MSMEs in selected industrial sectors.
- Conducting factory visits and stakeholder interviews alongside senior team members.
- Collecting process-level heating and cooling data.
- Understanding existing boilers, thermic fluid heaters and other thermal systems.
- Assessing potential opportunities for heat pump integration.
- Collecting data on electricity consumption, tariffs and renewable energy systems.
- Identifying potential waste-heat sources and heat recovery opportunities.
- Supporting technical and techno-economic assessments of heat pump applications.
- Entering, organising and cleaning survey data.
- Preparing field-visit reports, presentations and supporting documentation.
Target Industries The study will cover MSMEs operating in the following sectors:
- Textile
- Food Processing
- Pharmaceutical
- Chemical
Approximately 60 MSME units are expected to be surveyed across the selected locations.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates with a technical background in any of the following disciplines are encouraged to apply:
- Tech/B.E. - Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Chemical or related disciplines
- Tech/M.Sc. - Energy, Renewable Energy, Thermal Engineering or related disciplines
Final-year students, recent graduates and postgraduate students are eligible to apply.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Basic understanding of industrial thermal systems and energy consumption.
- Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics and industrial processes.
- Interest in industrial decarbonisation and electrification.
- Ability to conduct technical interviews and collect field data.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic data analysis.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- Willingness to undertake field visits and interact with industrial stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior team members.
