Atlantic Pacific Lines is a US-based, FMC-licensed NVOCC with drayage brokerage operations, backed by over 30 years of freight experience. We move cargo for Beneficial Cargo Owners (BCOs) across major global trade lanes, with a solid focus on India to USA. Our India freight is currently handled through agent partners. We are now building our own India office and are looking for a senior leader to set it up, take the business in-house and grow it.

:- Job Title: General Manager, India Operations, Atlantic Pacific Lines

Experience: 12 to 30 years in Freight Forwarding / NVOCC / International logistics

Reports to: Founders / Management (US+India)

Role Summary :-

We are looking for a senior freight leader to set up and head our India office. You will build the office's commercial, pricing and vendor setup, transition our existing India business from agents to our own operation, and grow revenue by bringing in your own BCO clients. Office space and operations support are already in place, so your focus will be on building the business and the structure around it.

You will work closely with the founders and have real ownership over how the India business grows.

Key Responsibilities :-

India office setup

- Set up the India office end to end, including registrations, licenses, compliance, SOPs and reporting structures.
- Build direct relationships and accounts with shipping lines, airlines, CFS, ICDs, transporters and customs brokers.
- Hire and build the local sales, pricing and customer service team.
- Work with the existing operations support team to define workflows, SOPs and service standards.
- Own the India P&L;, budgets and monthly reporting to management.

Transition of current business

- Take charge of our existing India freight and move it from agent handling to our own office in a planned, low-disruption way.
- Manage relationships with current clients and partners through the transition.
- Improve margins,



service quality and control over shipments once business is in-house.

Business development

- Bring on new BCO clients (exporters, manufacturers, brands) from your existing network.
- Build a strong pipeline across sectors such as textiles and apparel, home furnishings, engineering goods, auto components, chemicals, pharma and handicrafts.
- Convert direct shipper accounts into long-term contracted business.
- Grow business with overseas agents and network partners where relevant.

Pricing and vendor management

- Negotiate rates, space and credit terms with carriers and vendors.
- Build competitive pricing for key trade lanes, especially India to USA.
- Manage RFQs and tenders for large accounts.

Operations and compliance

- Oversee documentation, customs clearance, cargo planning and delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Indian customs regulations and US import requirements.
- Drive adoption of digital tools and systems across the India team.

Must Have

- 12+ years in freight forwarding, NVOCC or international logistics, with at least 5 years in a branch head, regional head or GM role.
- Hands-on experience setting up a new branch, office or business unit.
- Proven P&L; ownership for a branch, region or country.
- An active book of business with direct BCO / exporter relationships that can realistically move with you.
- Strong knowledge of ocean freight (FCL/LCL) and air freight, pricing and documentation.
- Established relationships with shipping lines, airlines, CFS, ICDs and customs brokers.
- Experience hiring and leading sales and pricing teams.

Good to Have

- Experience with India to USA trade lanes and US-bound exporters.
- Experience moving business from an agent model to an owned office.
- Knowledge of Indian regulatory setup for freight businesses (IEC, GST, MTO registration, carrier and customs tie-ups).
- Network through WCA, JCtrans, X2 or similar forwarder networks.
- Experience with AEO, IATA or similar certifications.
- Exposure to ERP or digital freight platforms.
- MBA / PGDM.
