Job Role : Engineer Support - Lab Support Engineer

Location : Chennai only

Job Summary The Test Setup & Topology Bring-Up Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, validation, and maintenance of complex engineering test environments within Chennai Labs. The role involves bringing up end-to-end test setups, establishing lab topologies, integrating hardware and software components, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring infrastructure readiness to support engineering validation and product development activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with lab hardware, networking, operating systems, remote access solutions, and test infrastructure deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Test Setup Bring-Up

- Build, configure, and deploy engineering test setups based on project requirements.
- Install and integrate servers, PCs, DUTs (Devices Under Test), networking equipment, and test instruments.
- Configure BIOS, operating systems, drivers, firmware, and application software required for testing.
- Validate setup readiness and ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
- Document setup architecture, configuration details, and validation results.

Topology Bring-Up & Infrastructure Integration

- Design and implement physical and logical lab topologies.
- Configure switches, routers, VLANs, firewalls, and remote-access solutions.
- Establish connectivity between test devices, servers, instruments, and engineering networks.
- Support large-scale test farms, remote labs, and shared-service environments.

Setup Maintenance & Troubleshooting

- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with IT, Network, Facilities, and Engineering teams to address lab issues.




- Maintain setup uptime and minimize service disruptions.
- Support periodic upgrades, migrations, and refreshing activities.

Asset & Configuration Management

- Track setup inventory, equipment allocation, and configuration records.
- Manage setup life-cycle activities including deployment, relocation, reconfiguration, and decommissioning.
- Ensure compliance with lab operational processes and documentation standards.

Automation & Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve setup deployment efficiency.
- Develop scripts and tools to automate setup validation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on lab scalability and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 3-4 years of experience in lab operations, infrastructure deployment, test setup bring-up, or related roles.
- Robust understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience configuring Windows and Linux systems.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, switching, and routing concepts.
- Experience with remote access technologies and virtualization platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in semiconductor, wireless, embedded systems, or product validation labs.
- Familiarity with Wi-Fi, or IoT test environments.
- Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting.
- Knowledge of lab management systems, asset management, and ticketing tools (Jira, ServiceNow, etc.).
- Experience supporting large-scale Board Farms, Device Farms, or Test-as-a-Service (TaaS) environments.
