Electro-Mechanical Design Manager
Location: Sachin GIDC, Surat, Gujarat | Job Type: In-Person
Salary: ₹9,00,000 – ₹15,00,000 per annum (based on experience)
RMR Innotech is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Design Manager to lead our engineering design function as we expand across the electrical power distribution sector globally. The ideal candidate combines deep technical command of electro-mechanical design, across both low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) scopes, with the maturity to own quality, mentor a team, and be the technical face of our company to international clients.
This role is ideal for someone who has spent 10+ years building electro-mechanical design expertise and is ready to lead a growing team, own design quality end to end, and shape how a fast-expanding CAD services company operates.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Own the technical direction and quality of RMR Innotech's CAD design function, leading a team of SolidWorks and AutoCAD designers while acting as the final technical checkpoint before deliverables reach the client. The candidate shall be responsible for design review and compliance sign-off, team leadership and mentorship, client-facing technical communication, and building the QC processes and standards that let the design function scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Leadership & Quality Control
- Review 3D assemblies, GA drawings, 2D layouts, and BOMs for technical accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable LV and MV standards (see Core Requirements).
- Act as the final sign-off before deliverables are released to clients. Catch design and compliance issues early, before they become client escalations.
- Run drawing review and markup cycles, including client markups (typically in Bluebeam Revu), and ensure all comments are tracked to closure.
Team Supervision
- Lead and mentor the team of SolidWorks and AutoCAD designers, reviewing their work and setting the technical bar for the team.
- Allocate project assignments and provide structured technical feedback.
- Build and maintain design standards, templates, and QC processes as the team grows.
Electro-Mechanical Design (LV & MV)
- Apply busbar sizing, cable routing, and electrical clearance/creepage principles to panel, switchboard, and switchgear layouts across both LV and MV scopes.
- Stay hands-on in SolidWorks and AutoCAD as needed. This is a technical leadership role, not a management-only position.
Client Engagement
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for client design queries, particularly for North American clients.
- Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to non-technical and technical stakeholders alike.
Project & Documentation Oversight
- Work closely with leadership on project timelines, resourcing, and client documentation packages.
- Ensure design documentation is accurate, traceable, and audit-ready for compliance purposes.
Process & Growth
- Contribute to internal standards, templates, and best practices as RMR Innotech's design function scales.
- Help build the systems and structure needed to take on larger, more complex client engagements.
- CORE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of professional experience in electro-mechanical design, with direct exposure to electrical panels, switchboards, or switchgear assemblies.
- Demonstrated experience on both low voltage and medium voltage scopes.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SolidWorks: assemblies, sheet metal, best practices, and large assembly management.
- Working proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D layouts, schematics, and drawing review.
- Solid working knowledge of the following standards as applied to panel and switchgear design:
- Low voltage: UL 67 (panelboards),
UL 891 (switchboards), UL 845 (motor control centers), UL 489 (molded-case circuit breakers), and UL 1558 (metal-enclosed low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear). IEC 61439 knowledge is a plus.
- Medium voltage: UL 347 (medium voltage AC contactors, controllers, and control centers), IEEE C37.20.2 (metal-clad switchgear), and IEEE C37.20.3 (metal-enclosed interrupter switchgear).
- Prior experience reviewing or managing the work of other designers/modelers.
- Comfortable working with international clients and communicating technical decisions clearly.
- Strong ownership mentality: proactively catches problems rather than waiting to be told.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience with Bluebeam Revu for drawing markups, review workflows, and document comparison.
- Manufacturing-floor familiarity with switchgear assembly.
- Experience with panel design for international markets or multiple compliance standards.
- Exposure to BOM/documentation automation (Excel-based tools, VBA, or scripting).
- Prior team lead or QC lead experience in a CAD/engineering services environment.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM or similar data management systems.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
This role is ideal for a senior electro-mechanical design professional who:
- Wants to lead a design team rather than remain purely an individual contributor.
- Has deep, real-world command of LV and MV panel/switchgear design and compliance standards.
- Enjoys being the technical anchor for client-facing engagements.
- Wants to help shape a growing CAD services company's technical direction.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary with abundant opportunities for professional and personal growth
- Ownership of RMR Innotech's design quality and technical standards
- Exposure to electrical power distribution and industrial systems for international clients
- Opportunity to shape a fast-expanding engineering services company
- Collaborative work culture focused on innovation, precision, engineering & execution excellence
