The opportunity

We are seeking a Director-level legal transformation specialist for a role with the Credit/Lending Documentation (Legal) function with a leading international bank in India. This newly dedicated role will help shape a multi-year transformation of the bank’s lending documentation function across contract management, AI-assisted document checking and end-to-end workflow.

You will combine deep, current bank-side lending documentation expertise with the ability to translate complex legal and operational processes into practical data, controls and workflows. This mandate suits a self-sufficient leader who can engage senior stakeholders and become productive within the first few weeks.

What you will do

- Contribute across contract management, AI-assisted checking and workflow programmes for complex lending documentation.
- Break facility, security and guarantee documentation into data points and review rules that technology can assess reliably.
- Define where automated checks are appropriate and where expert human validation must remain.
- Map and improve the journey from credit approval through documentation review, completion and limit set-up.
- Partner with product specialists, front-office teams, legal stakeholders and operations to remove manual handovers and strengthen controls.




- Test outputs, identify exceptions and help embed practical solutions in a high-volume banking environment.

What you will bring

Essential

- Director-level credibility and the ability to lead work independently from the outset.
- Deep, hands-on experience with complex lending documentation within a large bank, including bilateral and syndicated facilities, security, guarantees and conditions precedent.
- A strong understanding of how credit approval, documentation review, completion and limit-setting processes connect in a global banking setting.
- The ability to translate legal and operational requirements into clear data points, controls, workflows and validation steps.
- Confidence working across legal, business, credit and operations stakeholders.

Desirable

- Implementation experience involving contract lifecycle management, contract management or AI-enabled document review tools.
- Experience defining contract data fields, business requirements or review rules for a technology build.
- Experience in a bank with a comparable lending documentation or credit documentation operating model.

Location : Bengaluru or Chennai; city and working pattern to be confirmed.
