DevOps Engineer

About the Role A company serving businesses across the GCC is looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer to manage its cloud infrastructure, automate deployments and maintain secure, reliable applications.

You will work with a small remote team supporting business software for HR, payroll, procurement, inventory and customer management. This role requires someone who can work independently and take ownership of infrastructure and deployment processes.

Technology Stack

AWS, Docker, Docker Compose, GitHub Actions, Linux, nginx, Python/FastAPI, PostgreSQL and React.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM and security groups.
- Containerise applications using Docker and Docker Compose, keeping images lean and secure.
- Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines with automated tests that prevent failed releases.
- Configure nginx, SSL certificates and domains to support reliable application access.
- Set up monitoring, logging and alerts to identify issues early.
- Manage PostgreSQL backups, restores and recovery testing.
- Securely manage and regularly rotate secrets and credentials.
- Monitor cloud spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Document infrastructure, deployment and recovery procedures.




- Investigate operational issues and follow them through to resolution.

Requirements

- 1–2 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud or system administration.
- Production experience with Docker.
- Practical AWS experience, particularly EC2, RDS, S3 and IAM.
- Strong Linux administration skills; Ubuntu experience is preferred.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
- Working knowledge of nginx, SSL certificates and DNS.
- Bash or Python scripting skills for automation.
- Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions and resolve problems.
- Clear written English for documentation and remote communication.

Preferred Skills

- Infrastructure as code using Terraform or Ansible.
- Kubernetes, AWS ECS or EKS.
- Monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or CloudWatch.
- Redis administration and multi-tenant SaaS experience.
- Familiarity with data residency requirements and security standards such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2.
- Relevant AWS certification.
