Job Summary
We are hiring a skilled Design Engineer – Reverse Engineering on behalf of one of our customers in the automotive engineering domain.
The selected candidate will work on reverse engineering and product development activities involving 3D CAD modelling, 2D drawing creation, engineering documentation, and model release using Creo and/or CATIA.
The role requires strong hands-on experience in surface, sheet metal, and casting modelling, along with a good understanding of automotive components, manufacturing processes, GD&T;, and product lifecycle management.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology – Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering
Experience
2 to 3+ years of relevant experience
Experience in automotive design, reverse engineering, product development, OEM, Tier 1, or engineering services environments will be preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- Hands-on CAD experience in:
- Surface modelling
- Sheet metal modelling
- Casting modelling
- Strong working knowledge of Creo.
- Experience with CATIA will be an added advantage.
- Valuable understanding of component design in the candidate's area of experience.
- Sound knowledge of:
- Engineering materials
- Manufacturing processes
- Casting processes
- Sheet metal manufacturing
- Machining and related manufacturing methods
- Experience in preparing engineering drawings, including:
- Preliminary design
- Engineering calculations
- GD&T;
- Manufacturing feasibility considerations
- Knowledge of Teamcenter Engineering / TcAE or similar Product Lifecycle Management systems.
- Understanding of:
- Product development process
- Engineering release process
- Product lifecycle management
- Experience in reverse engineering of physical components.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have generated CAD models using:
- STL files
- Point-cloud data
- Scanned component data
- Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering and reverse engineering projects will be preferred.
- Experience with automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or engineering service organizations will be an advantage.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned components.
- Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and work based on project criticality.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules based on project requirements.
Good to Have
- Automotive industry background.
- Strong exposure to surface modelling.
- Strong exposure to casting component modelling.
- Experience converting scanned or STL data into production-quality CAD.
- Knowledge of automotive component design and manufacturing.
- Experience in benchmarking and teardown-based reverse engineering projects.
Roles & Responsibilities As a Design Engineer – Reverse Engineering, the candidate will be responsible for:
- Carrying out detailed input studies for allocated components.
- Understanding available reference inputs such as:
- Physical components
- STL data
- Point-cloud data
- Scan data
- Existing drawings
- Reference models
- Preparing self-estimation for assigned components based on complexity and scope.
- Creating accurate 3D CAD models using Creo and/or CATIA.
- Developing:
- Surface models
- Solid models
- Sheet metal models
- Casting models
- Creating and updating 2D engineering drawings.
- Applying appropriate:
- GD&T;
- Dimensions
- Tolerances
- Manufacturing considerations
- Ensuring CAD models accurately represent the scanned or physical reference component.
- Conducting self-quality checks before submission.
- Completing applicable engineering checklists.
- Preparing required delivery documents and project documentation.
- Uploading and releasing models through TcAE / Teamcenter or the applicable PLM system.
- Maintaining day-to-day activity and worksheet entries.
- Supporting team members with CAD tool-related and technical queries.
- Coordinating with project leads, customer engineers, and other engineering teams as required.
- Completing assigned deliverables within the defined schedule and quality requirements.

Pay: ₹240,894.34 - ₹400,000.00 per year
