Deputy General Manager Indirect Taxation & Operation Support (Export-Import)

About the Role

We are looking for a Deputy General Manager Indirect Taxation & Operation Support (Export-Import) to manage and provide functional support on GST compliance, Customs and EXIM-related activities for plant and business operations. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders, customs brokers, consultants and government authorities to ensure regulatory compliance and provide timely tax support to business operations.

Key Responsibilities

GST Operations & Compliance

- Provide GST support for day-to-day plant and business operations.
- Monitor movement of goods sent to and received from job workers.
- Ensure compliance for FOC and job-work transactions and manage ITC-04 filings.
- Review Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) from an ITC eligibility perspective.
- Review blocked-credit transactions and identify corrective actions.
- Ensure reconciliation between E-Way Bills and invoices and support resolution of discrepancies.
- Provide GST and E-Way Bill-related support to operations teams during movement of goods.
- Support responses to GST department queries, audits and assessments.

Customs & EXIM Operations

- Manage Customs compliance for import and export transactions.
- Review Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills and Customs duty payments.




- Ensure appropriate classification, valuation and applicability of Customs exemptions.
- Support Customs assessments, audits, investigations and departmental proceedings.
- Monitor compliance with Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) provisions.
- Manage EPCG, RoDTEP, Duty Drawback and other applicable export incentive schemes.
- Track export obligations and license compliances.
- Coordinate submissions with DGFT, Customs authorities, customs brokers and external consultants.
- Prepare and coordinate responses/submissions for departmental proceedings and investigations.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong functional knowledge of GST and Customs laws and regulations.
- Expert knowledge of the Customs Act and practical understanding of Customs/EXIM processes.
- Experience in GST compliance and indirect tax operations.
- Good understanding of import-export processes and Foreign Trade Policy.
- Working knowledge of ERP/SAP systems.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Robust stakeholder management and coordination skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with business, operations, consultants and government authorities.

Desired Candidate

- Relevant experience in GST, Customs, Indirect Tax or EXIM operations.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience in the automotive sector will be an added advantage.
