Insight Global is seeking an Application Infra Management Engineer to join a leading financial services client. This individual will support a large-scale infrastructure decommissioning programme focused on identifying and retiring on-premises technology assets that are no longer required following cloud migrations. Day to day, they will analyse infrastructure data, engage with application owners to validate decommissioning candidates, manage change requests, coordinate with storage and compute teams to execute decommissioning activities, and track progress through Jira.

The engineer will also develop reports and dashboards for stakeholders, drive process improvements through automation and scripting, and work cross-functionally across infrastructure, platform, and application teams to ensure infrastructure reclamation activities are completed efficiently and compliantly.

Responsibilities: 1.

Infrastructure

Identification &

• Cataloguing • Resource Discovery: Identify and catalogue residual NAS file shares, CPU allocations, and object storage linked to decommissioned applications.

• Data Analysis: Analyse data in Excel and internal tools to identify decommissioning candidates and measure outcomes.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage application owners to notify them of remaining infrastructure and secure formal approval for deletion.

2. Execution • Change Management: Raise and manage Change Requests for approved decommissioning activities.

• Coordination: Work with Storage, Compute, and Platform teams to execute permanent infrastructure removal.

• Reporting: Track progress, escalations, and blockers via Jira.



Maintain transparent boards and accurate status at all times.

• Stakeholder Communication: Produce and distribute structured notifications, reports, and updates for stakeholders and senior leadership. 3.

• Follow-Through: Maintain a rigorous approach to operational excellence. Proactively follow up on outstanding approvals, escalate delays per SLA, and drive professional communication.

• Process Improvement: Continuously improve processes, templates, and automation to increase decommissioning throughput.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with cross-functional infrastructure and platform teams and demonstrate aptitude for learning new workflows and tooling as needed.

Skills and Requirements

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. • 3-5 years of experience in infrastructure management, technology projects, or large-scale enterprise environments supporting business-critical applications. • Experience working with infrastructure decommissioning, infrastructure operations, or technology lifecycle management. • Strong understanding of:



○ NAS / file storage technologies ○ CPU and compute infrastructure ○ On-premise infrastructure environments ○ Object storage concepts and data retention policies • Experience with change management processes in regulated environments, preferably financial services. • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Technical Skills • Unix/Linux shell scripting • Basic Python scripting for automation and data manipulation • PowerShell scripting • Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting) • Jira (boards, epics, stories, sprint tracking) • Familiarity with development environments such as: ○ VS Code ○ IntelliJ IDEA ○ PyCharm • Exposure to AI productivity tools such as: ○ GitHub Copilot ○ ChatGPT ○ Gemini Claude
