Role Description The Cyber Security Mentor is a remote, contract role focused on guiding learners in developing practical cybersecurity skills and professional readiness. In this role, the mentor provides structured instruction on core cybersecurity concepts, tools, and practices, and supports learners through live projects, labs, and internship-style assignments. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering online sessions, reviewing student work, offering constructive feedback, and helping learners apply security principles to real-world scenarios.

The mentor collaborates with program coordinators to refine curriculum content,



participates in virtual doubt-clearing sessions, and offers career guidance on roles, certifications, and pathways in cybersecurity. The role also involves maintaining up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity trends and ensuring that training aligns with current industry standards.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in core cybersecurity domains, such as network security, application security, security operations, and vulnerability assessment.
- Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and basic scripting for automation).
- Knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices (such as ISO 27001, NIST, OWASP Top 10) and familiarity with risk assessment and incident response processes.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly, design practical exercises, and mentor learners from diverse academic and technical backgrounds.
- Prior teaching, coaching, or mentoring experience in cybersecurity or related technology fields is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications (such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or similar) are an advantage.
- Reliable remote working setup, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with an education-focused team.
