With a global presence and a strong focus on research and development, HCL Software aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving needs of up-to-date businesses.

About The Role HCL Software is seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our Office of the CISO. This role is pivotal in building, deploying, and maintaining security controls that protect our enterprise and cloud environments.

The Security

Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of security platforms, including design, implementation, tuning, automation, and operational health. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a proactive security professional to work closely with cross-functional teams such as SOC, Vulnerability Management, IT, and cloud engineering to enhance our security posture. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, a passion for security innovation, and the ability to translate complex security requirements into practical solutions that improve overall security efficacy.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or related roles with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical work. Demonstrated ownership of multiple enterprise security platforms—from deployment to ongoing operations—is essential.

Candidates should possess robust cloud security expertise across at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including native security services and policy enforcement. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Go, along with experience working with vendor APIs, is required. A solid understanding of operating system internals, networking protocols,

and identity standards like SAML, OIDC, and OAuth is also necessary.

Familiarity with infrastructure as code, version control, and troubleshooting complex environments further strengthens the candidate’s profile.

Responsibilities As a Security Engineer at HCL Software, your core responsibilities will include deploying, configuring, and maintaining vital security platforms such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), email security, secure service edge, cloud security posture management, and identity controls. You will design control rollouts that ensure comprehensive coverage, handle exceptions, optimize performance, and facilitate rollback procedures.

Integration of security tooling with SIEM and SOAR systems to enable actionable telemetry and response is critical. Monitoring control health metrics like agent coverage, policy compliance, and enforcement effectiveness will be part of your routine. You will implement and maintain security guardrails across multiple cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), including policy enforcement, posture monitoring, and automated remediation workflows.

Building secure baselines for operating systems, containers, and cloud services aligned with industry standards like CIS benchmarks will also be part of your role.

You will engineer secrets management, key lifecycle, and certificate controls in collaboration with platform teams. Supporting secure network design, including segmentation, egress control, and remote access, is crucial. Automation of security operations through scripting, APIs, and infrastructure as code will be emphasized to improve efficiency and consistency. Documenting processes and creating runbooks that facilitate operational continuity are key responsibilities.

In terms of operations support, you will assist in incident response activities,

including rapid control implementation, containment, and forensic data collection. Partnering with Vulnerability Management, you will help engineer scalable remediation processes rather than handling issues on a ticket-by-ticket basis. Participation in on-call rotations to address high-severity security incidents is expected.

Additionally, you will contribute to audit and compliance activities by collecting and maintaining control evidence.

In the realm of AI security engineering, you will implement guardrails for internal AI/LLM systems, protecting against prompt injection, model poisoning, and data exfiltration. Maintaining secure AI infrastructure, automating AI-driven security workflows, and monitoring AI tool usage against governance policies are vital. Staying current with emerging AI threats and adapting security controls accordingly will be part of your ongoing responsibilities.

Benefits HCL Software offers a competitive compensation package along with comprehensive benefits that include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities. Employees gain access to ongoing training, certifications, and career growth programs to enhance their skills and advance within the organization.

The company promotes a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and innovation. Flexible working arrangements, including remote work options, are available to support work-life balance. Additionally, employees are encouraged to participate in various wellness initiatives and community engagement activities, fostering a holistic approach to employee well-being.
