About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and patient-focused Anesthesiologist to join our Orthopaedic Pain Clinic in Egmore, Chennai.

The candidate will be responsible for providing safe anesthesia and sedation support for pain-management and orthopaedic procedures, conducting pre-procedure assessments, assisting with regional anesthesia and ultrasound-guided procedures, and ensuring appropriate peri-procedural pain management and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct pre-procedure / pre-anesthesia assessment and review medical history, investigations, medications, allergies and comorbidities.
- Assess patients for suitability and anesthesia-related risks before pain and orthopaedic procedures.
- Provide appropriate local, regional anesthesia and procedural sedation based on the patient's condition and procedure requirements.
- Assist in ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and regional anesthesia procedures, where trained and within clinical scope.
- Provide anesthesia/sedation support for interventional orthopaedic pain procedures and day-care procedures.
- Monitor patients continuously during procedures, including vital signs, oxygen saturation, blood pressure and cardiac status as appropriate.
- Ensure appropriate airway management and be prepared to manage anesthesia- or sedation-related emergencies.
- Support acute and peri-procedural pain management and advise on appropriate analgesic strategies.
- Recognize and manage complications such as adverse drug reactions, respiratory depression, hemodynamic instability and local-anesthetic toxicity.
- Provide post-procedure monitoring and ensure safe recovery before discharge or transfer.
- Maintain accurate anesthesia, procedure and patient-monitoring documentation.
- Coordinate closely with orthopaedic surgeons, pain physicians,



nursing staff and other clinical team members.
- Follow infection-control, medication-safety, emergency-response and patient-safety protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement activities and continuing medical education.

- Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia
- Acute and peri-procedural pain management
- Airway management and emergency response
- Patient monitoring and post-procedure recovery

Experience or interest in orthopedic pain management and interventional pain procedures will be an advantage.

Educational Qualification

Mandatory:

- MBBS from a recognized medical institution
- MD/DNB/DA in Anaesthesiology or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification
- Valid registration with the appropriate State Medical Council / NMC

Preferred:

- 1–3 years of clinical experience after postgraduate qualification
- Experience in orthopaedic anesthesia, pain management, day-care procedures or regional anesthesia
- Certification/training in BLS/ACLS will be an advantage
