Access Assist works with governments, development institutions, foundations, financial institutions, corporates and ecosystem partners to design and implement solutions that create measurable economic and social impact.

The organisation also works closely with a portfolio of associated partner companies and initiatives across sectors. The Communication Associate will therefore work across Access Assist and its associated organisations/projects, supporting communication, digital presence, content development and stakeholder engagement.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Communication Associate – Digital & Social Media who can combine strong communication and content-creation skills with a practical understanding of digital tools, AI, analytics and social media platforms.

The role will be responsible for developing and managing content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X, while also supporting communication for projects, events, reports, partnerships and organisational initiatives.

The ideal candidate is not simply a social media executive. They should be able to understand a development or business idea, translate it into compelling content, create appropriate visual/digital assets, publish it across platforms, analyse performance and continuously improve the communication strategy.

Key Responsibilities1. Social Media Management

- Develop and manage social media content across:
- LinkedIn
- Instagram
- Facebook
- X (Twitter)
- Prepare monthly/weekly content calendars aligned with organisational priorities.
- Draft posts, captions, threads, stories and other platform-specific content.
- Manage day-to-day publishing, scheduling and content coordination.
- Track relevant conversations, trends, hashtags and sector developments.
- Maintain consistency in organisational tone, messaging and visual identity.
- Support social media campaigns around projects, events, reports, launches and partnerships.

2. Content Development
- Convert technical, development and business-oriented material into clear, engaging and accessible communication.
- Develop content from:
- Reports and research
- Project updates
- Field activities
- Events and conferences
- Partnerships
- Impact stories
- Interviews
- Data and statistics
- Organisational announcements
- Write short-form and long-form content including articles, LinkedIn posts, newsletters and website content.
- Develop case studies, success stories, project highlights and impact narratives.
- Support preparation of communication material for senior leadership and project teams.

3. Visual & Digital Content
- Work with designers and/or independently create basic visual content using tools such as Canva, Adobe tools or equivalent platforms.
- Develop:
- Infographics
- Social media creatives
- Data visualisations
- Presentation graphics
- Short videos/reels
- Event creatives
- Quote cards
- Project highlights




- Ensure that data and complex ideas are presented in visually compelling and easy-to-understand formats.

4. AI & Technology-Enabled Communication
- Use AI-powered tools to improve content research, ideation, drafting, editing, repurposing and publishing workflows.
- Experiment with emerging AI tools for:
- Content creation
- Image and video generation
- Research
- Content repurposing
- Social media analysis
- Audience insights
- Workflow automation
- Develop efficient AI-assisted content workflows while maintaining human oversight, accuracy and organisational voice.
- Explore APIs and automation tools to streamline repetitive communication and social media tasks.
- Support integration of different digital tools into the organisation's communication workflow.

5. Analytics & Performance Tracking
- Track and analyse social media performance across platforms.
- Monitor metrics such as:
- Reach
- Engagement
- Followers/audience growth
- Click-through rates
- Content performance
- Conversion/response metrics
- Develop and maintain simple analytics dashboards using tools such as Excel/Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Power BI or equivalent.
- Identify which content formats, subjects and communication approaches perform better.
- Provide periodic insights and recommendations to improve content strategy and audience engagement.

6. Communication for Projects & Partners
- Work with Access Assist teams and associated partner companies to understand their communication requirements.
- Support communication for multiple projects and organisations simultaneously.
- Develop project-specific communication plans and content calendars.
- Coordinate with project teams to identify communication opportunities and stories from the field.
- Support communication around government, development partner, corporate and institutional engagements.
- Ensure appropriate visibility for partners while maintaining organisational communication standards.

7. Website & Digital Communication
- Support development and updating of website content.
- Coordinate with technical/design teams for website updates and landing pages.
- Support SEO-oriented content development where relevant.
- Ensure project pages, organisational profiles and key announcements remain current.
- Help build digital repositories of organisational content, photographs, videos and communication assets.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Media, Communications, Business, Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant skilled experience in communications, digital marketing, social media management, content creation or a related role.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to understand complex subjects and communicate them in simple,



engaging language.
- Solid working knowledge of social media platforms and content formats.
- Experience with Canva or equivalent design tools.
- Working knowledge of analytics platforms and social media insights.

Technology & AI Skills The candidate should have a strong interest in using technology to improve communication workflows. Experience with some of the following will be an advantage:
- ChatGPT / Gemini / Claude or equivalent AI tools
- AI-based image/video generation tools
- Canva AI and other creative AI tools
- Google Analytics / Meta Insights / LinkedIn Analytics
- Power BI / Looker Studio
- Excel / Google Sheets
- Social media scheduling tools
- APIs and basic API concepts
- Zapier / Make or similar workflow automation platforms
- Basic HTML/CSS or website CMS experience

The candidate does not need to be a programmer, but should be comfortable learning new digital tools and working with technical teams.
