Company Description Nirmaan Organization is a registered NGO founded in 2005 by students of BITS Pilani, working across Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Social Leadership. Over the past 20 years, the organization has impacted more than 4 million beneficiaries with the support of 600+ full-time employees and a volunteer network of over 10,000 individuals. Through around 40 flagship programs and leadership initiatives, Nirmaan serves children, women, youth, persons with disabilities (PwD), LGBTQ+ communities, and farmers from diverse social backgrounds across more than 24 states in India.

Role Description The Career Counselor will provide individual and group counseling to students and youth, supporting them in exploring career paths, making informed education and employment decisions, and setting realistic career goals. This contract, on-site role is based in Karnataka, India, and involves conducting career guidance sessions, aptitude and interest assessments, and workshops on job readiness, interview skills, and resume building. The counselor will collaborate with program teams, trainers, and partner institutions to design and deliver career development interventions aligned with the needs of diverse beneficiaries.
Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate counseling records, tracking progress, preparing reports, and contributing to outreach and awareness activities. The role also requires staying updated on labor market trends, education opportunities, and skill development programs to provide current and relevant guidance.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Career Counseling and Student Counseling, with the ability to guide individuals from varied social and economic backgrounds.
- Solid capabilities in Career Development and Career Management, including helping beneficiaries plan education, skill-building, and employment pathways.
- Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to conduct workshops, presentations, and one-on-one sessions in an engaging manner.
- Relevant academic background such as a degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Education, or a related field; formal training or certification in counseling is an advantage.
- Prior experience working with NGOs or community-based programs, especially with youth, women, PwD, or other marginalized groups, is highly beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and cultural sensitivity, with the ability to build trust and motivate beneficiaries.
- Ability to work on-site in Karnataka, manage multiple cases, maintain documentation, and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in English and local languages of Karnataka is preferred, along with basic computer skills for reporting and online research.
