Calibration Engineer – OBD

Experience: 5–9 Years

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering; M.Tech in Automotive Engineering preferred

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced OBD Calibration Engineer who can lead and technically execute assigned projects involving OBD software calibration, diagnostics, validation, and emission-related calibration activities. The candidate will work closely with internal teams, global engineering teams, and customers to ensure successful calibration, validation, integration, and release of software and calibration data.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform complete OBD software calibration and validation activities.
- Calibrate and validate fault codes , including demonstrations to customers and regulatory authorities.
- Manage calibration data, including integration, verification, and release to customers.
- Perform CAN database verification and signal mapping during project development.
- Support environmental trials and optimize EMS calibration under varying environmental conditions to achieve vehicle performance targets.
- Follow Company-defined calibration methodologies, procedures, tools, and development processes.
- Collaborate with Company HQ Application and Functions Design Teams to develop effective technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with defined calibration workflows, processes, and quality standards.
- Interact regularly with customers to understand vehicle/bench validation status, software issues, and project requirements.




- Analyze customer-reported defects, validate issues, and create/manage JIRA tickets for internal and external tracking.
- Calibrate and validate diagnostics, EOBD, and functional safety concepts .
- Provide technical support for problem-solving during industrialization and customer development activities.
- Work on emerging automotive technologies such as BS6, Hybrid, AMT, and DCT .
- Travel to customer locations as required to support development and validation activities.
- Promote the use of statistical analysis and big-data management to validate calibration strategies and diagnostic robustness.
- Participate in calibration design reviews and risk analysis with Company HQ teams and customers.

Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of Engine Control Systems and/or Transmission Control Systems .
- Hands-on experience in system calibration and base calibration .
- Robust knowledge of OBD-I and OBD-II diagnostics and calibration .
- Experience in functional diagnosis calibration and validation .
- Knowledge of IUMPR calibration .
- Experience in Emission and Drivability Calibration .
- Hands-on experience with ETAS INCA .
- Working knowledge of MATLAB .
- Experience with Vector tools such as CANoe/CANalyzer.
- Knowledge of CAN communication, database verification, and signal mapping .
- Understanding of automotive diagnostics, emissions, and calibration processes.
- Knowledge of functional safety concepts in automotive systems.
